Seriously commited lust severely

We hear your heart and we stand with you in this moment of deep conviction, and we thank you for your honesty before the Lord. The sorrow you feel is not to be despised, for godly sorrow works repentance to salvation which brings no regret, but the sorrow of the world works death as we read in 2 Corinthians 7:10. Your desire for forgiveness and for this to be the last time is pleasing to God, and we join with you to seek His mercy and His power to walk in purity.

We want you to know without doubt that Jesus does forgive when we come to Him in true repentance. The Word assures us, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9. So we do not have to wonder if He can forgive you, for He already paid the full price on the cross, and as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us in Psalm 103:12. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus in Romans 8:1, but we must not use grace as a license to continue in sin, for how shall we, who died to sin, live any longer in it in Romans 6:2.

We must also lovingly rebuke and address the sin of lust itself, for Jesus taught that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28. Lust, whether it is pornography, masturbation, fornication outside of marriage, or entertaining sexual fantasy, is not a small struggle but sexual immorality that God calls us to flee. The Scripture commands us to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace in 2 Timothy 2:22. God designed sexual intimacy to be only within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and any indulgence outside of that design is sin that defiles our body which is a temple of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. To truly repent is not only to confess but to turn away, to make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts in Romans 13:14, which means we must take radical action to cut off the sources, to remove access, to bring it into the light with a trusted mature believer, for confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed in James 5:16.

We encourage you that you are not alone in temptation and that victory is possible, for no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it in 1 Corinthians 10:13. God does not want you to live in a cycle of failure and shame, but to walk by the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh in Galatians 5:16. This requires daily renewal, for we are transformed by the renewing of our mind in Romans 12:2, by filling our heart with the Word, by prayer, by fasting, by accountability, and by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus who understands our weakness and invites us to come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy in Hebrews 4:15-16.

We pray with you now together in Jesus name.

Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear soul who is broken and repentant before You. Lord, we confess this sin of lust with them and we ask for Your full forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within them in Psalm 51:10. Wash them whiter than snow and let them know the joy of Your salvation restored. Father, we ask that You break the chains of this sin and set them free, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Give them a hatred for this sin and a hunger for righteousness. Help them to flee every occasion and every trigger, to make a covenant with their eyes, to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Surround them with godly accountability and strength, and when temptation comes again, show them the way of escape and give them courage to take it. Let this indeed be a turning point, that they may walk in newness of life as a new creation in Christ as promised in 2 Corinthians 5:17. Fill the void that lust tried to fill with Your presence, Your Word, and Your peace. We thank You that Your mercies are new every morning and Your grace is sufficient. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.

Thank you for being honest with us about what happened. We can hear how heavy this feels and how much you want to turn away from it for good.

Wanting forgiveness and wanting this to be the last time are good and sincere desires, and we want you to know you are not alone in this struggle. Many believers have felt the same shame and the same longing for a clean break, and God is patient with those who come to Him honestly.

When that desire is strong, it helps to make it practical and not carry it by yourself. If you have a trusted pastor or mature Christian friend, consider telling one safe person this week what you are facing and asking them to check in with you regularly. It also helps to honestly look at what made this time harder, whether it was being alone, scrolling late at night, or other triggers, and to put a clear boundary in place there, like keeping your phone out of the bedroom or using filtering and accountability.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, we lift our brother to You and ask for Your mercy and forgiveness through Jesus. Bring peace where there is shame, give him strength and wisdom for each next choice, and guide him toward people who can walk with him faithfully. Help him know Your nearness and Your power to restore. In Jesus' name, amen.

I figured out that I need to stop telling myself I can't do it, and bad things. I can do it!

There is forgiveness with God, and your cry for mercy has been heard. The word of the Lord declares, there is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared, and that forgiveness is to be obtained only from God through Jesus Christ His Son, who died the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God.

You tremble and shake for fear and with a penitent heart desire forgiveness, and to you the promise comes as a surprising and complete forgiveness. It is divine forgiveness, for I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. Where God draws no limit, do not you draw any. However sinful your life may have been, there is forgiveness with God even for you, and if you have been the chief of sinners, you may have the chief of sinners forgiveness through the blood of Christ. He not only forgave at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive, and the forgiveness which God gives for Christ's sake is an eternal forgiveness, a blotting out of the whole debt so that it is remembered no more.

Yet let us weigh your repentance with care and jealousy, for there is a carnal repentance that is of the flesh and a true repentance which is the work of the Spirit of God and which gives God glory. True repentance stands at the Cross and sees sin forgiven and then repents more than ever, saying, I know they are forgiven, but now their pain to me is all the grief and anguish they laid, my Lord, on You. Evangelical repentance is one of the fruits of the Gospel of forgiveness and no other tree can produce it.

Faith and repentance are inseparable. The repentance which ejects sin as an evil tenant and the faith which admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart go together. The repentance which purges the soul from dead works and the faith that fills the soul with living works cannot be divided. Ask yourself, what is your repentance. Have you a repentance that leads you to look out of self to Christ, and to Christ only. Does it make you avoid present sin because of the love of God who died for you. True repentance will yield works meet for repentance, it will be practical repentance, and you may know whether it is true by this test, does it last or does it not. Repentance lives as long as faith. It is not a thing gotten through once as an operation and then done, but sweet sister Repentance keeps company with us all our pilgrimage.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would grant you this godly repentance unto life. We ask the Father, for Jesus sake, to forgive you freely according to His promise, to wash you in the blood of the Lamb, and to give you faith to rest in Christ alone for salvation. We ask Him to give you hatred for sin itself, not only fear of its consequences, and strength to flee from lust and to walk in purity as God ordained, for sex and living together belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. May He keep you from temptation, make you watchful, and cause your repentance to be practical and lasting, building you up in holiness until you stand perfect in Christ. Look not to your own resolutions to save you, but to Christ who is able to keep you from falling, and trust Him daily for both pardon and power to sin no more.
