Seeking salvation

Smtoriotel

Disciple of Prayer
My name is ### and I would like to know God and serve Him. I have seen people serving God diligently and I would wish to be like them. You see, I have a very forgetful mind; in that I would say that I'll wake up at ###:### am to pray and end up forgetting. You can tell me something today but come tomorrow, I would forget it.

I just want to have the zeal to serve God.

We rejoice with you that the Lord has placed a desire in your heart to know Him and serve Him faithfully! This is no small thing—it is the work of the Holy Spirit drawing you to the Father, and we give thanks for His movement in your life. The fact that you recognize your need for God and long to walk in obedience is a sign that He is already at work in you. Let us assure you that salvation is not found in our own strength or perfection, but in the finished work of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:8-9, *"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast."* Salvation begins with repentance—turning away from sin—and placing your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

You mentioned struggling with forgetfulness, and we want to encourage you that this is not a barrier to your relationship with God. In fact, the Lord knows our weaknesses and invites us to depend on Him completely. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, He says, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."* Your forgetfulness can become an opportunity to lean on Him even more, trusting that He will strengthen you as you seek Him. The key is not to rely on your own memory or discipline alone but to ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and guide you each day. Jesus tells us in John 14:26, *"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you."*

Let us also remind you that serving God is not about perfection but about a heart that is surrendered to Him. Even the most devoted servants of God struggle with weaknesses, but they press on because their focus is on Christ, not themselves. Philippians 3:13-14 says, *"Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do: forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."* Your desire to serve Him is a gift—nurture it by spending time in His Word, praying even when you feel distracted, and surrounding yourself with believers who can encourage you.

Now, let us address something vital: salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet confessed Jesus as your Lord and believed in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, we urge you to do so now. Romans 10:9-10 declares, *"That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."* If you have already taken this step, we rejoice with you! If not, we pray you will surrender your life to Him today.

As for your forgetfulness, let us offer some practical steps rooted in Scripture. First, ask God to renew your mind daily (Romans 12:2). Set reminders—not just on your phone, but spiritual reminders like placing Scripture verses where you will see them (Deuteronomy 6:6-9). Start your day by committing it to the Lord, even if it’s a simple prayer like, *"Lord, I give you this day. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me to remember You."* Finally, join a community of believers. Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us to *"consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching."*

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for drawing our brother/sister to Yourself. Lord, we ask that You open their eyes to see the truth of Your Word and the depth of Your love. If they have not yet surrendered their life to Jesus, we pray that today would be the day of salvation for them. May they confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and give them a hunger for Your Word.

Father, we lift up their struggle with forgetfulness to You. We ask that You would strengthen their mind and help them to fix their thoughts on You (Isaiah 26:3). Remind them, by Your Spirit, to seek You first in all things. Give them discipline, not in their own strength, but through the power of Christ who lives within them. Surround them with believers who will encourage them and hold them accountable.

Lord, ignite in them a zeal for Your house—a passion to serve You that cannot be quenched. Let them find joy in obedience and peace in Your presence. Remove any distractions or strongholds that would hinder their walk with You. May they grow in faith, love, and holiness as they abide in You.

We rebuke any lies of the enemy that would tell them they are unworthy or incapable of serving You. The blood of Jesus has made them worthy, and Your strength is perfected in their weakness. Let them walk in the confidence of their identity in Christ.

We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to take a moment now to pray and surrender your life to Jesus if you haven’t already. If you have questions about salvation or how to grow in your faith, please share them with us. We are here to walk with you and support you in this journey. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you seek Him with all your heart!

We're right there with you, friend. It's such a joy to see your heart stirring for God and His service. We've all been where you are, feeling that tug on our hearts, that desire to know God more and serve Him better. It's the Holy Spirit at work, and it's a beautiful thing!

You mentioned struggling with forgetfulness, and we want to assure you that it's okay. None of us are perfect, and we all have our struggles. The key is to keep pressing on, to keep seeking God, even when we feel like we're forgetting or falling short. In fact, our weakness can be an opportunity for God's strength to shine through (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Let's try a little experiment, shall we? Next time you feel like you're forgetting something, instead of getting frustrated, why not make it a prayer? Say, "Lord, I'm feeling forgetful right now. Please remind me, please fill me with Your Spirit." Then, go about your day, trusting that He hears you and will help you.

Also, try writing down verses that speak to you. Put them somewhere you'll see them often. It could be your mirror, your fridge, or even your phone's lock screen. The Israelites were told to write God's words on their doorframes and gates, so they'd see them every day (Deuteronomy 6:6-9). It's a great way to keep God's word fresh in your mind and heart.

Remember, serving God isn't about being perfect. It's about loving Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). It's about pressing on, even when we stumble. So, keep going, friend. God sees your heart, and He's proud of you.

Let's pray together, shall we? "Dear Lord, thank You for our friend here. Thank You for the desire You've placed in their heart to know You and serve You. Lord, help them to trust in Your strength, not their own. Help them to remember You, to seek You, even in their forgetfulness. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We're here for you, friend. Let's walk this journey together.
