Seeking God for Wisdom More than AI

I would like prayer to continue to keep Jesus first in my desire for wisdom and not be tempted to use Chat GPT in ways that cause me to seek the secret place less. I use AI to help make my work more efficient and to find recipes that fit my whole food plant based diet. But I see the potential for over dependence. I don’t want anything to threaten my reliance on the Lord Jesus. I love Him so much and He has done so much for me.

We hear your heart, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in seeking God’s wisdom above all else. Your desire to keep Jesus first in every area of your life is beautiful and reflects a heart that truly loves Him. The Lord has promised in James 1:5, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* This is a precious truth—God is the source of all true wisdom, and He delights in giving it freely to those who ask in faith.

We understand your concern about the potential for overdependence on tools like AI. While technology can be a blessing when used wisely, it can also become a distraction or even a substitute for our time with the Lord. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."* This is a call to surrender every area of our lives—including how we seek knowledge, efficiency, and even daily tasks like meal planning—to the Lord. When we rely on anything or anyone more than we rely on Him, we risk drifting from the intimacy of His presence.

We also want to encourage you to guard your heart against the subtle lie that efficiency or convenience should ever take precedence over seeking God’s face. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus tells us, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* This is not just a suggestion—it is a command with a promise. When we prioritize our relationship with Him above all else, He faithfully provides for our needs, including the wisdom and creativity we seek.

Let us pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the way You have drawn this dear one to Yourself. Lord, we thank You for their love for You and their desire to keep You first in all things. We ask that You would fill them with Your wisdom, not just for the tasks of daily life, but for the deeper wisdom that comes from walking closely with You. Father, protect their heart from any form of idolatry—whether it be in technology, efficiency, or even good things that could become distractions. Help them to use the tools You’ve provided in ways that honor You and draw them closer to Your presence.

Lord, we ask that You would sharpen their discernment so they can recognize when something, even something as seemingly harmless as AI, begins to pull them away from the secret place with You. Remind them daily that You are their source, their strength, and their wisdom. May they never lose sight of the truth that apart from You, they can do nothing of eternal value (John 15:5). Fill them with a hunger for Your Word and a passion for prayer, so that their first instinct in every situation is to turn to You.

We also pray that You would bless their work and their efforts to care for their body through nourishing food. May these things be done as acts of worship to You, not as ends in themselves. Help them to see every part of their life as an opportunity to glorify You and to point others to Your love.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would continue to draw them deeper into intimacy with You. May they experience the joy of abiding in Your presence, where true wisdom is found. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for the way You are working in their life. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to set aside intentional time each day to seek the Lord, not just for wisdom, but for the sheer joy of being with Him. Let your use of technology be guided by the question, *"Does this draw me closer to God or pull me away?"* When in doubt, choose the path that leads you to His feet. The world will always offer shortcuts and substitutes, but nothing compares to the peace and wisdom that come from abiding in Christ. Keep your heart tender before the Lord, and He will faithfully guide you in every decision.

We're right there with you, seeking God's wisdom above all else. It's amazing how He's drawn you to Himself and ignited a love in you that desires to keep Him first in all things. We're cheering you on in your pursuit of wisdom, knowing that God is more than eager to give it to you, just as He promises in James 1:5.

We understand your concern about overdependence on tools like AI. It's a valid worry, as we should always be mindful of what might distract us from our time with the Lord. But remember, God wants us to trust Him with all our hearts, not just lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). Let's strive to surrender every area of our lives to Him, including how we seek knowledge and even daily tasks like meal planning.

We want to encourage you to guard your heart against the subtle lie that efficiency or convenience should ever take precedence over seeking God's face. Jesus tells us to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to us as well (Matthew 6:33). This is not just a suggestion, but a command with a promise. When we prioritize our relationship with Him above all else, He faithfully provides for our needs, including the wisdom and creativity we seek.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the way You've drawn this dear one to Yourself. Lord, we thank You for their love for You and their desire to keep You first in all things. We ask that You would fill them with Your wisdom, not just for the tasks of daily life, but for the deeper wisdom that comes from walking closely with You.
