School

Please pray for me about school. I am in my last semester of school but I do not like the classes that I am taking. I am retaking two classes that I failed earlier in the year. The main problem is the professors. For at least one of the classes I am taking, I am taking it with a professor who I had last time I took it who failed me who I did not like having a class with. I still haven't seen the professor I have for the other class but I'm fairly certain it's the same professor I had last time I took the class who I also did not enjoy having a class with who failed me.

We understand the frustration and anxiety you’re facing as you navigate this final semester, especially having to retake classes with professors you’ve struggled with before. It’s easy to feel discouraged when circumstances seem stacked against you, but we want to remind you that God is sovereign over every detail of your life—even the difficult ones. He has not abandoned you in this season, and He can use these challenges to refine your character, deepen your dependence on Him, and ultimately bring glory to His name.

The apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:13, *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* This isn’t just a motivational quote—it’s a spiritual truth. Your strength doesn’t come from your own ability, the fairness of your professors, or even your liking of the classes. It comes from Christ, who equips you for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). He has called you to this moment, and He will see you through it. Remember also what is written in Romans 8:28: *"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."*

It’s also important to examine your heart in this situation. While it’s natural to dislike difficult professors or unfair grading, we must be careful not to let bitterness or resentment take root. Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* If there’s any resentment toward these professors, we encourage you to release it to the Lord. Pray for them—yes, even for those who have failed you. Jesus commands us in Matthew 5:44, *"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."* This isn’t just for their sake, but for yours. Forgiveness frees *you* from the weight of bitterness and aligns your heart with Christ’s.

Practically, we encourage you to approach these classes with diligence and integrity. Colossians 3:23-24 says, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ."* Even if your professors are difficult, you are ultimately serving the Lord in your studies. Seek His wisdom in how to engage with the material, ask for His help in understanding concepts that are challenging, and trust that He will provide what you need to succeed.

If you haven’t already, consider reaching out to academic advisors, tutors, or study groups for additional support. Proverbs 15:22 tells us, *"Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established."* Don’t hesitate to seek godly wisdom and practical help. And if you find yourself overwhelmed, cast your anxieties on the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

Finally, we must address something we noticed in your request: the name of Jesus was not invoked. This is not a small matter. The Bible is clear that we have access to the Father *only* through Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself says in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He tells us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* Additionally, Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. Confess your sins, repent, and believe in Him (Romans 10:9-10). If you *have* trusted in Christ, then we encourage you to always approach the throne of grace in His name, for it is the only name with the power to save, transform, and intercede for us.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your grace, strength, and wisdom to flood their heart and mind as they navigate this final semester. Lord, You see the frustration, the weariness, and the discouragement they feel. We ask that You replace their anxiety with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give them a spirit of diligence and excellence in their studies, not for the approval of man, but as an act of worship to You.

Father, we pray specifically for the professors they are struggling with. Softening their hearts, Lord, and grant our brother/sister favor in their eyes. If there has been any bitterness or resentment, we ask that You would uproot it and replace it with forgiveness and a heart that seeks to honor You in all things. Help them to see these professors through Your eyes and to pray for them as You have commanded.

We ask for supernatural understanding and retention of the material they are studying. Open their mind to grasp concepts they’ve struggled with, and give them the perseverance to press on, even when it’s hard. Surround them with godly support—whether through advisors, tutors, or friends—who can encourage and assist them.

Most of all, Lord, we pray that through this season, they would draw closer to You. Remind them that their identity is not in their grades or the opinions of their professors, but in Christ alone. May they find their worth and security in You, knowing that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory.

We rebuked any spirit of discouragement, fear, or defeat that may be trying to take hold. In the name of Jesus, we declare that they are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). No weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and they will finish this semester strong, equipped by Your Spirit.

Finally, Father, if our brother/sister has not yet surrendered their life to Jesus Christ, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and let them know that salvation, peace, and eternal life are found in no other name but Jesus.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your perfect plan. May Your will be done in their life, and may You receive all the glory.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Hey there,

We're right there with you in this final semester, and we know it's tough having to retake classes with professors you didn't enjoy the first time around. It's easy to feel stuck and discouraged, but remember, God is right there with you, every step of the way.

We want to encourage you to keep your focus on Him. He's got a plan, and He's working everything out for your good (Romans 8:28). Even the challenging professors and classes are part of His plan to shape and mold you.

Help them to trust in You, even when things don't go as they expect. Give them a spirit of excellence in their studies, not for their own glory, but for Yours.

Lord, we pray specifically for the professors they're struggling with. Softening their hearts, Lord, and grant our friend favor in their eyes. Help our friend to see these professors through Your eyes and to pray for them as You've commanded.

Help them, Lord, to understand and retain the material they're studying. Open their mind to grasp concepts they've struggled with before, and give them the perseverance to press on, even when it's hard.
