Disciple of Prayer
Hi,

I would like you to pray for me to help me recover my scammed funds which made me very depressed, angry, broke and suicidal.

Regards and thanks
###

We have read your request and we are standing with you in prayer together before our heavenly Father in Jesus' name, bringing your deep pain and burden to Him. We are so sorry to hear that you were scammed and are now feeling depressed, angry, broke, and even suicidal. Please know that God sees what has happened to you, He sees the injustice done against you, and He sees the heavy sorrow and anger in your heart. You are not alone and you are not forgotten.

The Lord is close to those who are hurting. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We also hear your feelings of anger and depression, and God invites you to cast every care on Him. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Psalm 55:22 says Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. Matthew 11:28 says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Your life is precious to God, made in His image, and He has purpose for you even in this dark valley. Genesis 1:27 and Psalm 139:14 remind us we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

We want to speak gently and directly about the suicidal thoughts you mentioned. Those feelings of despair are heavy and real, but they are not from God and they are not His will for you. God is the giver of life and He desires to give you hope and comfort, not destruction. We urge you not to remain alone with these thoughts. Please reach out right away to a trusted pastor, counselor, family member, or friend, and if needed to a medical professional or a crisis helpline in your area. We encourage you to let someone close to you know how deeply you are struggling so they can walk with you and support you. There is hope, and God can bring light even into this very dark place. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We understand the anger and sense of loss over being broke after being scammed. It is natural to feel violated and anxious when what you worked for has been taken unjustly. God cares about justice and He cares about your provision. Romans 12:19 says Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. We can trust Him to be the righteous judge while we also take wise and practical steps, such as reporting the scam to your bank, the authorities, and any relevant fraud agencies, and seeking godly counsel for next steps. We pray for wisdom for you in those actions. At the same time we remember that our security is not ultimately in money but in God Himself. Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Even if the funds are not fully recovered, God is able to provide for you, restore hope, and work this painful situation for good as Romans 8:28 says We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share lovingly that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and the gift of salvation. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:13 says For, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and call upon His name for forgiveness, salvation, and daily help. It is in His name we pray and find peace.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You know the pain of being scammed, the depression, the anger, the financial need, and the thoughts of ending life. Lord, we ask You to rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness and to surround this heart with Your love, Your presence, and Your peace that surpasses understanding. Heal the broken heart and bind up the wounds. Lift the heavy burden and replace anger and bitterness with Your comfort and strength. Protect this life, for it is precious in Your sight, and let Your hope rise up anew. Father, You see the injustice that was done, and we ask for Your justice and mercy. If it is Your will, we ask for restoration of what was stolen, for wisdom and favor with any authorities and institutions involved, and for provision for every present need. Provide daily bread, open doors for work and help, and guide every decision. Lead this dear one to caring support, to a local church family, to counselors and friends who will walk closely through this trial. Draw this heart close to Jesus, reveal Your salvation and Your unfailing love, and teach us to seek first Your Kingdom and trust You for all things. We pray for rest, for sleep, for renewed strength, and for joy to return. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

Losing money to a scam can bring such a flood of anger, shame and fear, especially when it leaves you broke and wondering how to move forward. It makes sense you feel depressed and overwhelmed. What happened does not define your worth, and God still sees you and cares for you in this painful place.

When you can, please reach out to one trusted person today, a family member, friend or pastor, and let them stay close to you in the coming days. If you have not already, consider contacting your bank or the place where the funds were sent to report the scam, and consider talking with a doctor or counselor for support for your thoughts and mood alongside prayer.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see his hurt and anger and the weight he is carrying. Please surround him with help and keep him safe tonight. Give him wisdom for next steps, provide for his needs, and bring comfort and hope as he leans on You. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your heavy and sorrowful letter has been read with much tenderness of heart, and we have carried your burden before the Lord as you asked. To be wearied in the length of your way, to be made broke and angry and cast down even to despair, is a grievous affliction, and we do not make light of it. The loss of what you labored for is a real loss, and the shame and anger that follow a deceiver's snare can press a soul very low, even to thoughts that life itself is no longer to be desired.

We must tell you plainly what the Scriptures teach, that if we could have all the gold of this world, yet if the soul were lost the bargain would be a dreadful loss. For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul. Your soul is capable of heaven, and therefore its worth exceeds all your scammed funds, be they ever so great. This does not make your poverty less painful, but it lifts your eyes to see that you yourself, your soul before God, is not lost with your money, and He who counts you precious has not forgotten you in this pit.

You write as one who feels there is no hope, and indeed we read in the prophet, You are wearied in the length of your way, yet you did not say, There is no hope. There is no hope for you in yourself, and there is no hope in the deceiver who took your goods, nor in any device of your own to recover it by your own hand. But there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as you. We are saved in hope, and that hope consists of belief, desire and expectancy toward Christ, who is able to give perfect peace and rest to the heart even while the outward trouble remains. Though you are now as a prisoner in the pit wherein is no water, the word of the Lord to such prisoners is, Turn you to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. He is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy, and He will not always chide, neither will He keep His anger forever against His own.

We think also of Peter in his fall and restoration. He fell grievously, and went out and wept bitterly under the look of his Lord. That look severed him from the crowd and broke his heart, and the same Lord who looked upon him had prayed for him that his faith should not fail. If there is a poor soul here that can yet say, I am trusting in Jesus and if I perish I will perish there, there is hope for that soul. Though you have been brought very low, perhaps far into sin and sorrow and self reproach, there is with the Lord abundant pardon and perfect restoration for those who cry, Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your loving kindness, according unto the multitude of Your tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

We do therefore pray for you, and we ask you to join us in this prayer. O Lord, have mercy upon this afflicted one. According to Your loving kindness and the multitude of Your tender mercies, look upon this Your servant in depression and anger and want. Forgive all sin, deliver from despair, and grant a good hope of eternal life through believing in Jesus Christ. Provide for daily need as You see fit, give wisdom to those in authority who may help in the recovery of what was stolen, guard this soul from the temptation to self destruction, and give that perfect peace and rest which You alone can give. Turn this possible hope into an actual hope, and let this brother or sister find that the men of grace have found glory begun below, and celestial fruits on earthly ground from faith and hope in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior, through whom alone is salvation.

We entreat you, do not remain alone with these dark thoughts. The despair that whispers of self harm is a liar, and you must turn at once to the stronghold. Make your distress known this day to a faithful pastor, to a trusted family member or friend, and to a medical helper who can bear with you in this trial. If thoughts of ending your life press upon you, seek help without delay from those nearest to you and from a local crisis helpline in your country. You are not forsaken, and you are not forgotten by the Lord who hears the prayer, Lord, have mercy upon me. We will continue to pray that He will keep you, provide for you, and lift you up to find hope yet again in Christ, and that He will in His own way restore to you joy and usefulness even after this great loss.

We have received your message and we have heard the weight of what you are carrying. To be scammed and left broke brings a real wound, and it is understandable that you feel depressed and angry. Thank you for reaching out and for being honest about feeling suicidal. You are not alone in this, and your life is precious to God and to those around you.

We are praying for you, and we want to stand with you in this painful time. Scripture teaches that anger is like a fire that catches and consumes if it is left unchecked, and it harms both body and soul. God did not give us anger so that we would destroy ourselves or others, but so that we would be stirred to turn from what is wrong and to seek what is good. That fire is quenched not by holding it inside or letting it burn hotter, but by patience, forbearance and gentleness, and by asking God to guard our hearts with faith. Loud and bitter thoughts can be fuel for that fire, while words of truth and grace can calm the soul and help it find rest.

We pray that God will calm the storm of anger and sorrow you feel, and lift the heavy burden of depression. We pray that He will guard your mind and heart, remind you that you are made in His image and deeply loved, and give you strength to keep living one day at a time. If thoughts of taking your life grow stronger, please reach out right away to someone you trust, a pastor, a counselor, a family member or friend, or a crisis helpline in your area. You do not need to face these thoughts alone, and seeking help is a wise and courageous step.

We also pray for your practical needs. We ask God to provide for you in your brokenness, to give you wisdom for next steps, to guide you to trustworthy help for reporting what happened and for seeking counsel about finances, and to bring justice in His way and time. God sees what was taken from you, and even when funds are not restored as we hope, He is able to provide, to comfort, and to restore hope. Our worth is not measured by what we own, but by His love shown to us in Jesus Christ, who suffered for us, intercedes for us, and invites us to cast all our cares on Him.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the loss, the anger, the depression and the thoughts of despair. Have mercy and bring Your peace that passes understanding. Quiet the fire of anger, heal the wounded heart, and drive away all thoughts of self harm. Remind this person that they are loved, valued and not forgotten by You. Provide for daily needs, grant wisdom to those who can help practically, and lead to honest counsel and support. Draw this heart closer to You, give strength to endure, and fill the soul with hope through Your Word and Your presence. We ask this in the saving name of Jesus, our only hope. Amen.

Please keep reaching out. Keep talking to God in prayer, keep opening His Word, and keep letting trusted people know how you are doing. We will continue to pray for your protection, for peace in place of anger, for provision, and for renewed hope.
