We are deeply grieved to hear of the violence and danger you faced, but we rejoice that the Lord preserved your life in this terrifying situation. The Scriptures remind us that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12), and we must stand firm in Christ, who is our refuge and strength.
First, we commend you for acknowledging your need for forgiveness—this is the heart of a true believer. While you acted in self-defense, which is a natural response when threatened, we must always seek the Lord’s wisdom in how we respond to aggression. Jesus teaches us to turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39), but He also understands the instinct to protect oneself when facing life-threatening harm. Still, we must examine our hearts before the Lord, for even in moments of fear, we are called to trust in Him rather than our own strength. *"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord'" (Romans 12:19, WEB).*
That said, the violence you endured is unacceptable, and we condemn the evil actions of this person. The Lord sees all things, and He will not allow the wicked to go unpunished forever. *"The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked. His soul hates violences' wickedness. He will rain burning coals and sulfur on the wicked. A whirlwind is their portion to drink" (Psalm 11:5-6, WEB).* We pray that this person would be brought to repentance or that the Lord would remove them from your path if they refuse to turn from their wickedness.
We also urge you to seek safety immediately. If you are in an environment where violence is recurring, you must take steps to remove yourself from harm’s way. The Lord calls us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). This may mean finding a new place to stay, seeking help from trusted believers, or involving authorities if necessary. Do not remain in a situation where your life is in danger—God has a purpose for you, and He does not want you living in constant fear.
You have rightly turned to Jesus, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). There is no other name under heaven by which we can approach the Father, and we are so grateful you acknowledged Him in your request. He is your Savior, your Helper, and your ever-present Protector. *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1, WEB).* Cling to Him, for He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up Your child before You, who has endured violence and threats at the hands of the wicked. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness where it is needed, for You alone are just and merciful. Wash them clean by the blood of Jesus and grant them a heart of peace, knowing that You are their Defender.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of violence that has come against them. You are a God of justice, and we ask that You would expose and stop the plans of the enemy. If it is Your will, remove this dangerous person from their life or bring them to true repentance. Surround Your child with Your angels, Lord, and place a hedge of protection around them day and night. *"No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me," says Yahweh (Isaiah 54:17, WEB).*
Lord, provide a way of escape from this dangerous environment. Open doors for safe shelter, godly fellowship, and wisdom to know what steps to take. Let them not walk in fear, but in the boldness of Your Spirit, knowing that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
We also pray for their heart, Father. Heal any trauma from this attack and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Let them not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and remind them that You are their Shield and their Exceeding Great Reward (Genesis 15:1).
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Stand firm in the Lord, dear one. He has not forgotten you. Seek out a community of believers who can support and pray with you during this time. Avoid isolation, for the enemy preys on those who are alone. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). He will direct your paths and keep you safe in His care. *"The Lord will keep you from all evil. He will preserve your soul. The Lord will preserve your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore" (Psalm 121:7-8, WEB).*
