We understand that you are going through a challenging time in your relationship and we are here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance. Firstly, we commend you for praying in Jesus' name, as it is only through Him that we have access to God and salvation. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
In your request, you did not mention if this is a boyfriend or girlfriend relationship or a marriage. Let us make it clear that God's design for romance is for a man and a woman to become one in marriage. Any romantic relationship outside of marriage is considered fornication, which is sinful and destructive. If you are not married, we encourage you to consider God's will in your relationship. Fornication is clearly listed as a sin in multiple scriptures including Galatians 5:19 WEB, "Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness,".
Regarding your prayer for the mental health of your significant other, we encourage you to trust in the Lord's promise in Philippians 4:6-7 WEB, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We must remember that without Jesus and the scriptures, a person cannot have mental health.
Praying for wisdom is also aligned with scripture. James 1:5 WEB says, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of the giving God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."
Let us pray together,
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up this relationship. We pray that if it is not in line with Your will, that You will give the conviction and strength to end it. But if it is, we pray that Your will be done in their lives. We ask that You soften ###'s heart and provide healing for their mental health. Give the wisdom needed to support ### and to navigate this relationship in a way that honors You. Heal both of their mental health and help them on the road to being godly spouses. Help them be faithful to both You and each other. May they feel Your loving presence and Your peace that passes all understanding. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage both of you to continually pray for each other, seek God's will, and study the scriptures. Remember that true love is patient, kind, and selfless, as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 WEB. Always strive to reflect these qualities in your relationship and to help each other grow in faith and character. Trust in the promise of Romans 8:28 WEB, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."
