A Promise for Us and for Our Children
Leaning on Our Beloved
Harp and Javelin
We join you together in prayer for your beloved son and we thank you for sharing this burden with us, for we know how deep a parent's love is and how much more our heavenly Father loves him.

We hear your heart when you say he is good in nature but not praying and not going to church, and we gently want to encourage you with the truth of Scripture that being good in nature is not what saves us. The Word tells us for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23 and for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast Ephesians 2:8-9. Church attendance and good character are beautiful fruits but they cannot bring salvation, only faith in Jesus Christ can. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is only through believing in Jesus, confessing Him as Lord and believing God raised Him from the dead, that we are saved as it is written that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9.

We want to encourage you to not grow weary in praying for him, for our God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4 and The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. We encourage you to continue to lift him up daily, to live before him as a quiet and godly example, and to share the gospel with him in love and gentleness when the Lord opens the door, trusting that the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts and draws hearts to Jesus.

We pray together now for your son in the mighty name of Jesus.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we lift up this precious son to You. Lord, You know him by name and You love him more than we ever could. We ask that You would touch his heart, open his eyes to see his need for a Savior, and draw him to Yourself by Your Holy Spirit. Convict him of sin and reveal to him the beauty and mercy of the cross. Remove any hardness or distraction that keeps him from seeking You, and give him a hunger to pray, to know Your Word, and to fellowship with Your people. We pray that he would confess Jesus as Lord and believe in his heart that You raised Him from the dead and be saved, and that he would become a new creation in Christ. Give his parent peace and perseverance as they wait on You, and help them to reflect Your love to him each day. We trust Your perfect will and Your perfect timing. In the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our salvation, we pray. Amen.

We hear your heart for your son and we are honored you asked us to pray with you. Loving a child who is kind and good natured yet has no desire for prayer or church can feel heavy, and we want you to know you are not alone in carrying this burden.

We take comfort that salvation is God's gracious work in a person's heart. We can love, pray and live out our faith before our family, but only He can draw someone to Himself and bring real transformation. That can take pressure off you. Your faithful prayers matter and the Lord hears them even when you do not yet see change. Continuing to walk quietly and consistently with Him in your own daily life is often the most powerful witness your son will see.

One simple way to keep going is to set aside a brief time each day to bring your son by name to the Lord, asking Him to work in His way and timing, and then to keep your relationship warm and open. An occasional gentle invitation to join you for church or to talk about faith when he seems open can keep the door open without making him feel pressured. We will keep praying with you for the Lord's touch on his life.

Father, we lift this dear son to You. You know him fully and love him more than we ever could. Draw him to Yourself, soften his heart to seek You, and give his parent peace and patience as they trust You. Guide them both and keep them in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for your son is heard and it is a right and holy burden to bring before the Lord, and we join our hearts with yours in pleading for his soul.

You say he is good in nature, yet he does not pray nor go to the house of God. Know then that goodness of nature cannot save, for salvation is not by works or ceremonies, but by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. There is no other way for any of us, whether we seem outwardly good or be found among the chief of sinners. We must look unto Jesus and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for beside Him there is none else. He died, the Just for the unjust, to bring us to God, and pardon is to be had without money and without price through His blood.

Take comfort from the prodigal son. When he was yet a great way off his father saw him and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him much. It was not with icy eyes that the father looked upon his returning child. Love leaped into his eyes. So it is with our heavenly Father toward every repentant sinner who returns believing in Jesus Christ His Son. All the promises in this Book belong to such a one. He that is willing to use his lips for confession shall find his Father willing to use His lips to kiss him and to make him know that it is all real and true.

Therefore we will plead for ### not upon any excellence in him or in ourselves, but for the Lord's name sake. O Lord, honor Thyself, honor Thy Son, honor Thy Spirit by saving him. Thou hast a name for pardoning iniquity, and it is Thy desire that Jesus should see of the travail of His soul. Let us come to the fountain opened for sin and for uncleanness and by faith in Jesus wash and be clean.

We pray now, O heavenly Father, touch the heart of ###. Draw him by Thy Spirit to see his need of a Saviour and to look unto Jesus and live. Grant him repentance and faith, turn his feet toward Thy house and toward prayer, and make him a new creature in Christ. Do this for Thy great name sake and for the glory of Thy Son.

Be encouraged to never cease to pray for him until you yourself cease to breathe. The God of Abraham is the God of families, and He delights to hear the cries of a household for salvation. We have many precedents in Scripture of whole households brought to believe, and we may pray in faith, for He will be inquired of to do it for us. Continue to set before him the plain gospel, to labour and to love, and leave his soul with the sovereign mercy of God who is wonderfully and marvelously kind.

May the Lord give you a firm grip upon His promise and keep you watching in prayer till you see your son return to his Father's house.
