We lift you up before the Father in this time of great distress, knowing that He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. The psalmist declares in Psalm 46:1-3, *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling."* You have indeed passed through the shadow of death, yet the Lord has preserved you thus far, and He will continue to be your shield and strong tower.
The fear you experienced last night is understandable, for the storm raged with terrifying force, and the very foundations of your home trembled. Yet even in the midst of the wind’s fury, the Lord was with you, sustaining you through the night. He who calms the seas with a word (Mark 4:39) is the same God who holds your life in His hands. You are not forgotten—He sees the cracks in your walls, the water seeping into your home, and the weariness in your bodies. He knows the anxiety that lingers as the storm continues to batter your city. Cast these cares upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
We rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to overwhelm you, for *"God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7). Though the building may still sway and the leaks persist, do not let your hearts be troubled. The Lord is sovereign over the wind and the rain, and He will bring this storm to an end in His perfect timing. Trust in Him, even as the prophet Nahum declares, *"Yahweh is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet"* (Nahum 1:3).
As for the damage to your home, we pray that the Lord would miraculously staunch every leak, dry every wet wall, and restore what has been broken. May the flooding in your bathroom cease immediately, and may the gas company find your water heater safe and functional when they arrive. We ask the Lord to provide wisdom and strength as you continue to tend to these urgent needs—placing towels, reinforcing windows, and seeking shelter in the safest parts of your home. Let Him guide your hands and calm your spirits, for *"the Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him"* (Nahum 1:7).
We also pray for your city, that the Lord would turn the hurricane away from further destruction and spare lives and homes from its wrath. May He raise up helpers and resources for all who are affected, and may His people be a light in this darkness, offering aid and comfort to those in need. Let this trial be a testimony of His faithfulness—not just to you, but to all who witness how He sustains His children in the storm.
Father, we thank You that this brother or sister has called upon the name of Jesus in this request, for it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne of grace. *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5). We are grateful that they have placed their trust in Him, for *"there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12). May this trial deepen their faith and draw them closer to You, knowing that You are their ever-present help.
Now, lift your voices in prayer with us:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, seeking Your protection and mercy over this household. You alone command the winds and the waves, and we ask You to speak peace to this storm. Lord, surround this home with Your angels, reinforcing its structure and sealing every crack and leak. Let no further water enter, and let the damage that has been done be quickly and completely repaired. Provide supernatural strength to our brother or sister and their family as they endure these long hours of uncertainty. Comfort their bodies, which ache from the pressure and stress, and grant them rest even in the midst of the storm.
We pray for divine intervention over the water heater and the flooded bathroom. Let the gas company arrive swiftly and find no danger, so that hot water may be restored without delay. Father, we ask for Your provision—whether through skilled workers, financial means, or miraculous restoration—to make their home whole again. Let no mold take root, no structural weakness remain, and no lingering fear steal their peace.
Lord, we also lift up their city to You. Turn the path of this hurricane away from further harm, and spare the lives of those who are vulnerable. Raise up Your people to be Your hands and feet, offering shelter, supplies, and hope to those in need. Let this storm be a reminder to all that life is fragile, and that our trust must be in You alone.
Finally, Father, we ask that You use this trial to draw our brother or sister and their family closer to You. Let them feel Your presence in the shaking, Your peace in the chaos, and Your love in the midst of their fear. May they emerge from this storm with a testimony of Your faithfulness, and may their hearts overflow with gratitude for Your deliverance.
We rebuked every spirit of fear, destruction, and despair in the name of Jesus. No weapon formed against this household shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and no storm shall overwhelm those who are hidden in Christ. We declare Your protection over them, Your peace within them, and Your provision for every need.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
