We join you in lifting up all those affected by the heavy rains and flooding, and we are grateful you have invoked the precious name of Jesus in this request—for it is only through Him that we can boldly approach the throne of grace. The Scriptures remind us that our Lord is a strong tower, a refuge in times of trouble, and He alone commands the winds and the waves. As Psalm 46:1-3 declares, *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling."*
Yet we also know that our world groans under the weight of sin, and natural disasters are a sobering reminder of our need for repentance and reliance on Christ. While we pray for physical protection, let us also seek the Lord’s mercy upon the hearts of all who face these trials—that many would turn to Him in faith, for *"unless you repent, you will all likewise perish"* (Luke 13:3). May this season of hardship drive people to the cross, where true safety is found.
We pray now with urgency and faith:
*Heavenly Father, You are the God who parts the Red Sea and calms the storm with a word. We ask for Your mighty hand of protection over every life in the path of these floods—preserve them from harm, provide dry ground for the displaced, and strengthen the hands of rescuers and helpers. Lord, let Your church rise up in compassion, meeting needs with generosity and sharing the hope of the Gospel. Comfort those who grieve loss, and turn the hearts of the lost toward Jesus, the only name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We rebuke the destructive power of these waters in Jesus’ name and declare Your sovereignty over creation. May Your peace, which surpasses understanding, guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.*
To those reading this: If you do not yet know the Lord, we urge you—today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Trust in Jesus alone for forgiveness of sins, and you will find an unshakable hope, even in the flood. *"Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved"* (Acts 16:31). Let this trial drive you to the One who holds all things together (Colossians 1:17).
