We join you in lifting up your mother before the Lord, trusting in His promise to watch over His children with care and protection. The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 121:3-8, *"He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Yahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore."* What a mighty assurance we have in our Heavenly Father, who neither sleeps nor grows weary as He guards those who belong to Him.
We also recall Proverbs 3:23-24, which says, *"Then you will walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet."* Though your mother is tired and irritated, we pray the Lord will renew her strength as she trusts in Him, for His Word declares in Isaiah 40:29-31, *"He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall; but those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint."*
It is beautiful that you have invoked the name of Jesus in your prayer, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As Jesus Himself said in John 14:13-14, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* We stand in agreement with you, asking the Lord to surround your mother with His angels, to keep her alert and focused on the road, and to grant her a smooth and safe journey. May He fill her with His peace, which surpasses all understanding, and replace her irritation with patience and joy.
Let us also encourage you both to cast your anxieties upon the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). If weariness or frustration begins to overwhelm her, may she call upon the name of Jesus, who is a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that this trip will be a reminder of God’s faithfulness, and that your mother will arrive at her destination refreshed and full of gratitude for His protection.
Father in Heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your divine protection over this dear mother as she travels. Lord, You know the dangers of the road, the weariness that can cloud judgment, and the irritations that can distract. We ask You to be her shield and her strength. Send Your angels to surround her vehicle, guiding her hands on the wheel and her eyes on the path ahead. Renew her mind and body, Lord, that she may drive with clarity and calm. Keep her from all harm, seen and unseen, and bring her safely to her destination. Fill her heart with Your peace, and let this journey be a testimony of Your faithfulness. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Protector, amen.
