Thank you for sharing your need so honestly. I am praying with you about this difficult dental situation, the frustration of a faulty implant and a hard experience with the first dentist, the sudden pain in your lower molars, and the need for wisdom and strength in the appointments ahead.
Scripture shows us that Jesus has power over sickness and infirmity. He healed the leper with a touch, He healed at a distance with just a word for the centurion's servant, He lifted Peter's mother in law from her fever, and in the evenings multitudes were brought to Him. Matthew connects this to the prophecy in Isaiah chapter 53 verse 4, Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, where the word for griefs can also be translated infirmities, and says this was fulfilled in Jesus bearing our sicknesses. When He gave His body for us, which we remember when we take communion, He was making provision for both spiritual and physical healing. He still has authority in the physical realm and in the spiritual realm, and healing is for today.
At the same time there is much about healing we do not fully understand. The Gospels show that Jesus did not heal in only one pattern. Sometimes He healed instantly, sometimes with a touch, sometimes with only a word, sometimes by going to the person, sometimes without going, and once He healed a blind man gradually in stages. That reminds us that God is not confined to one method. All true healing is divine, whether it comes in a moment or through the gradual processes He has built into our bodies. The natural processes of restoration in the body are part of His design, and He often works through the wisdom and skill of doctors and dentists as part of that process.
We also live in a fallen world where our bodies groan and are subject to pain and weakness because sin entered the world. That does not mean your pain is a direct punishment from God. Good people suffer illness and pain, and it is wrong to say that if someone is not immediately healed it must be because of sin or a lack of faith. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times about his thorn in the flesh and the Lord chose not to remove it but to give grace through it. We cannot presume to know exactly how God will work in every case, but we can trust His love and bring every need to Him with confidence.
So I am praying for you specifically, that the Lord will give you favor and clarity in this second opinion appointment, that He will guide the new dentist with integrity, wisdom and clear eyes to see what is truly wrong and what is best to do, and that any faulty work would be made right without further conflict. I am asking Him to touch those painful lower molars, to ease the pain, to bring complete healing in His way and timing, whether instantly or through the treatment and the healing processes He created. I am praying for guidance, wisdom and strength for you through each step, for peace in place of anxiety, and for His mighty protecting covering through the blood of Jesus over you.
The early church was encouraged to call for the elders to pray for the sick, and God hears those prayers. Keep bringing this before Him honestly, trusting that He who bore your infirmities cares deeply about your body as well as your soul. May He prosper your health as your soul prospers in Him, and may you feel His presence and healing power with you in that dental chair and in the days that follow.
