We come before You, Lord Jesus, with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is experiencing chest pains and the one who is deeply afraid. Father, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who heals and restores. Your Word tells us in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." We claim this promise over this situation, believing that You can bring healing and comfort.
Lord, we also bring before You the fear that grips this heart—the fear of losing a loved one, the fear of the unknown. We rebuke that spirit of fear in the name of Jesus, for Your Word declares in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We pray that You would replace this fear with Your perfect peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we ask that You would guide this dear one to seek medical attention if they have not already. Proverbs 3:7-8 says, "Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones." We trust that You work through doctors and medicine, and we pray for wisdom for those who are caring for this person.
We also lift up the one who is afraid to sleep, Lord. We ask that You would calm their mind and give them rest. Psalm 4:8 says, "In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety." We pray that You would surround them with Your presence, reminding them that You never slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:4) and that You are their ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Lord, we know that our times are in Your hands (Psalm 31:15), and we trust in Your sovereign will. We ask that if it is Your will, You would extend the life of this loved one, granting them more time to walk in Your purposes. But we also surrender this situation into Your hands, knowing that Your plans are perfect, even when they are difficult for us to understand.
We pray for strength for both of them—strength to endure, strength to trust, and strength to hope in You. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."
Above all, Lord, we pray that both of them would draw closer to You through this trial. May they seek Your face, find comfort in Your Word, and experience the peace that only You can give. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Amen.
