Rude condescending snobby coworker

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I have been greeting and saying good morning to this coworker who is rude and snobby. At first, I didn’t have this impression of her, but I’ve come to realize how mean, rude, and snobby she is because she always dismisses my greeting by looking down, whispering, and expressing that she doesn’t want to say good morning to me. I wish I don’t have to see her in the morning, but sometimes I just happen to see her and she makes it very uncomfortable and awkward when she could have just saying good morning and move on, she doesnt have express her feeling like that please pray for this, also the admin has been micromanaging discriminating and rude as well

We hear the heaviness in your heart over this daily discomfort at work and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord. It is painful to offer a kind greeting and be met with a look down, a whisper, or a deliberate dismissal, and it is also discouraging to feel micromanaged and treated rudely and unfairly by those in authority. We understand how that can make the morning feel awkward and make you wish you did not have to cross paths with this coworker at all.

We are reminded in scripture that God sees these small moments and calls us to respond differently than the world does. Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:44 to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us and persecute us. Romans 12:18 tells us if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men, and Romans 12:21 tells us not to be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that a gentle answer turns away wrath, and Ephesians 4:32 calls us to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave us. When we continue to offer a simple good morning with a gentle spirit and without demanding a response in return, we reflect Christ even if the other person chooses not to respond in kind. We also remember Colossians 3:23 that whatever we do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, and Ephesians 6:7 that we serve with good will doing service as to the Lord. That truth helps us when admin is difficult, for we ultimately work for the Lord and He is our defender and rewarder. We do not need to repay rudeness with rudeness, and we can guard our hearts from bitterness by choosing forgiveness and by praying for those who make the workplace tense.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus and we want to gently share why His name matters so much to us. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we are saved. John 14:6 tells us Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him, and Acts 4:12 tells us there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved. We come to the Father in Jesus name because His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection opened the way for us, and we encourage you to place your trust fully in Him both for salvation and for daily help at work.

We pray together for you and for your workplace. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus and lift up our dear fellow worker to You. You see the awkward mornings and the sting of being dismissed, and You see the stress of being micromanaged and feeling discriminated against. We ask You to soften the heart of this coworker and the hearts of the admin, to give them kindness and respect for others. Give our friend grace to continue to show love without growing weary, to guard against resentment, and to respond with a gentle spirit that overcomes evil with good. Grant wisdom to navigate the workplace with integrity, to do all work heartily as unto You, and to find peace that comes from knowing You see and You will vindicate. Fill this workplace with Your peace and let Your love be evident through our friend even in uncomfortable moments. Help us all to keep our eyes on Jesus, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to trust You for favor and protection. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep committing each morning to the Lord before you arrive, to pray briefly for this coworker and for your admin by name, and to keep your greeting sincere but brief without feeling you must force a connection. If the discrimination continues, seek godly counsel and follow right channels with respect and honesty, trusting God to be your advocate. We stand with you asking God to bring more peace to your mornings and to use your faithful kindness as a light in that place.

We hear how draining this has been to walk into work and face that awkward moment each morning. You have tried to be kind and courteous with a simple good morning, and instead of a quick reply you get a look away and a sense that your greeting is being dismissed. That can leave you carrying discomfort for hours, and with the added strain from administration feeling micromanaging and unfair, it makes sense you would dread those encounters.

We appreciate your desire to stay respectful even when it is not returned. One idea that helps many people in this kind of spot is thinking of boundaries as a property line. Her response belongs on her side of the line, not yours. You can remain polite without needing to earn a warm reply, and you can also protect your own peace by not waiting for or chasing a response.

A small shift that often eases the pressure is to keep the greeting brief and in motion, a short good morning or nod as you keep walking, rather than pausing to see how she will react. It lets you stay courteous while giving yourself space from the discomfort. With the admin concerns, it can also help to keep brief factual notes of requests or comments and, when you can, ask for expectations in writing so you have clarity to refer back to.

Father, we lift our friend to You for the workday mornings ahead. Guard their heart from discouragement, give wisdom for each interaction, and provide steadier communication with those in authority. Bring more peace to that workplace and remind them they are seen and valued by You. In Jesus name, amen.

To offer a good morning in kindness and to receive only a cold look and a whisper in return is a wounding trial, and I understand how heavy and awkward this daily burden has become for you, especially when you must also bear the pressure of an administration that is exacting and unkind.

You have acted rightly in seeking to show courtesy where it is not returned. Remember how Divine Grace has dealt with us. We did not first love Christ, but He loved us when we were yet enemies, with a love that had no beginning and shall have no end. Free Grace came to us unsought, and it bestowed not only the gift but the very hand to receive it. Where sin abounded, Grace did much more abound. If the Lord has shown such bountiful and undeserved Grace to us, we are called to reflect that same Grace to others, not because they deserve it, but because we have received it so freely.

Do not let this unkindness harden your heart or tempt you to assist the Lord by repaying coldness for coldness. Your labor in showing a gentle spirit is not lost, even when it seems despised. The Christian grows in Grace not by mere outward acts, but by trusting Him who sees in secret and who will keep you in a living, loving, lasting union with Christ. That union is your comfort when human fellowship fails. Grace reigns in the heart to make a person new, so that he may run with delight in the paths of holiness even when surrounded by sin and unkindness. Let your aim be not to win the approval of this coworker, but to concur with the will of God and to walk in good works because you are already accepted in the Beloved.

Commit both this coworker and those in authority over you to the Lord in prayer, asking not for your own vindication only, but for His Grace to work in them and in you.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, who gives Grace as freely as the sun gives light, look upon this Your child who is wearied by daily contempt and by harsh oversight. Grant a heart kept in peace through union with Christ, that bitterness may not take root. Teach how to answer unkindness with meekness and to continue in faithful labor without weariness. Pour out Your Grace upon the coworker who shows such coldness, and upon those in administration, that they may be brought to know Your kindness and to act with fairness and mercy. Give wisdom to navigate each morning with quiet dignity, to speak when speaking is needful and to remain silent when silence is best, and to find rest in the knowledge that all our service is at last unto You. Keep this soul from poverty of spirit through idleness or resentment, but cause growth in Grace through trust in Christ alone. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior we ask it, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request shows how difficult and draining it has been to face coldness and rudeness each morning at work, and also to deal with an administration that feels micromanaging and unfair. It is understandable that this leaves you feeling uncomfortable and awkward, especially when you are simply trying to offer a kind greeting and be at peace with those around you.

Scripture calls us to a patient endurance that reflects Christ Himself. To love God in these small daily trials is to endure without being troubled in heart, and to wait with patience for Him rather than demanding an immediate change in others. Patience is not shown in a day or two, but over time, and it is often formed precisely in these persistent frictions and afflictions. Part of that patience is learning not to rush into conflict. When we are not summoned to a fight, we can remain quiet and show freedom from vainglory, and when we must stand, we can do so with gentleness and nobility of spirit.

This does not mean the rudeness does not matter, but it helps to see it rightly. Every conflict often has its root in vainglory or pride, and when we are at peace inwardly we learn to not let the things of this life steal our treasure above. If someone withholds honor or returns a greeting with a whisper or a look down, she has not taken your true honor, which is from God. You are being trained in gentleness, and that training itself is a gift, with a reward laid up for you as you learn to forgive as you have been forgiven. Continuing to greet others with kindness without insisting on a response, not repaying coldness with coldness, and entrusting yourself to God is the believing way. It shows you trust the Giver to be faithful even when the answer or the relief does not come right away, and that patience in turn strengthens hope.

I will pray for you, for your coworker, and for your workplace leaders.

Father in heaven, I bring this dear one before You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see every morning, every greeting offered, every dismissal felt, and every heavy moment under close and harsh oversight. Grant patience that endures as Christ endured, a heart that is not troubled or faint, and a spirit kept in hope through Your Word. Teach gentleness and help to forgive as You have forgiven, and keep this heart from growing bitter or weary. Soften the heart of the coworker who responds with rudeness, and work in the hearts of those in authority, that they would lead with fairness, wisdom and kindness. Provide relief and peace in the workplace, guard the treasure that cannot be stolen, and let Your presence be known there. Help to wait for You with trust, knowing You will judge with righteousness and will not forsake those who hope in You. In Jesus name, Amen.
