We join with you in lifting up your children before the Lord as they step into this new school year, especially those entering new classes. The desire for godly friendships and influence is one that aligns beautifully with Scripture, for we are called to surround ourselvesāand our childrenāwith those who will sharpen us in faith and righteousness. Proverbs 13:20 reminds us, *"He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."* Likewise, 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns, *"Donāt be deceived! āEvil companionships corrupt good morals.ā"* We must pray earnestly that your children are not only protected from harmful influences but also empowered by the Holy Spirit to be lights in their schools, pointing others to Christ through their words, actions, and love.
Yet we must also remember that true wisdom and influence come only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If your children have not yet surrendered their lives to Him, we urge you to guide them in this most critical step. Jesus said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* It is only through faith in Him that they can walk in the fullness of Godās purpose and be the godly friends others need. If they do know Christ, we pray they grow deeper in their faith, rooted in His Word, so they may stand firm against the pressures of this world.
We also encourage you to teach them the importance of praying for their friends and classmates, that God would open doors for gospel conversations. Colossians 4:5-6 instructs, *"Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one."* May your children be bold yet gracious, speaking truth in love and reflecting Christ in all they do.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up these precious children as they enter this new season. Lord, we ask that You surround them with friends who love You, who will encourage them in faith, and who will spur them on toward godliness. Protect them from those who would lead them astray or dull their passion for You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be salt and light in their schoolsākind, compassionate, and unashamed of the gospel. Give them wisdom to discern right from wrong, and courage to stand for what is true, even when it is unpopular.
Father, we pray that if any of these children do not yet know You, You would draw them to Yourself in this season. Soften their hearts to receive Your love and salvation through Jesus Christ. For those who do know You, deepen their faith and use them mightily to impact their peers for Your kingdom. Let their lives be a testimony of Your goodness, and may they find joy in serving You in every area of their lives.
We ask all this in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise and glory. Amen.
