Good and Faithful Servant
I want you to know I am praying for you right now, asking the Lord to pour out the Spirit of wisdom and understanding on you as you open His Word. Your desire for revelation and guidance is something He delights to answer, because He has never intended the book of Revelation to be a sealed mystery. The very title tells us it is the unveiling of Jesus Christ, the drawing back of every curtain so that you can see Him clearly and know what He has for you.
Sometimes people treat the book as if it is impossible to grasp, but that is the opposite of its purpose. God gave it to reveal, not to hide. The Holy Spirit who inspired it is the same Spirit of knowledge and quick understanding who rests upon Jesus, and He loves to shed light on these visions for anyone who asks. Right now, as you seek Him, trust that He is able to give you clarity even in the symbols and scenes.
When John was told to write, he was given a simple key that can help you: he was to write the things he had seen, the things that are, and the things that will be after these things. That framework can steady your heart. You are not trying to decode everything at once; you are fixing your eyes on the glorified Christ first, then seeing how He speaks to His church through history, and finally beholding what He is going to do to bring all things to their promised conclusion. Let that structure free you from confusion. The Lamb is worthy of all glory, power, wisdom, and honor, and He wants you to hear His voice in these chapters.
I am asking the Lord to grant you a spirit of revelation that goes beyond mental effort. May He make known to you the hope of His calling and the richness of the inheritance you have as His child. As you read, picture John beholding the throne, the cherubim worshiping, the elders casting down their crowns, and let the same worship rise in you.
