We join with you in seeking the Lord for revelation, guidance, and greater understanding, and we thank you for asking in the precious name of Jesus, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father.
We hear your desire for God to speak clearly to you now, and we bring this before Him together. The Scriptures assure us that God delights to give wisdom and direction to His children when we ask in faith. As it is written, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5. We cling to this promise for you.
We also remember the word, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. And, Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don’t know. Jeremiah 33:3.
We pray that the Lord will open the eyes of your heart according to His will, for we ask that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your hearts enlightened Ephesians 1:17-18. We pray that whatever revelation He gives will be clearly rooted in His Word, for His Word is a lamp to our feet and His Spirit is our Counselor who will teach you all things John 14:26.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace on behalf of our dear fellow believer. You know the specific matter weighing on this heart, the questions and the longing for clarity. We ask that You would grant revelation and godly guidance even now according to Your perfect timing and will. Pour out wisdom liberally, remove confusion, and grant deep spiritual understanding. We pray You would instruct and teach in the way to go, counseling with Your eye upon us Psalm 32:8. Open eyes to see wondrous things out of Your law Psalm 119:18 and let Your peace guard this heart as we wait upon You. Help our friend to dwell in Your Word daily, to test every impression against Scripture, and to listen for Your still small voice with patience and trust. We ask that You quiet any anxiety and make the next steps straight and clear for Your glory. We thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name and that You are faithful to lead Your children. Amen.

Your request for revelation and guidance and for more understanding is itself a token of good, for it shows a work of grace upon the heart that makes you feel your need of a guide. Naturally we do not like being guided, but grace dethrones obstinacy and gives in its place acquiescence in the divine will, and by bowing with submission to the will of God we are furnished with unerring guidance.
You ask that revelation may be given to you now, and I would point you to where true wisdom is to be found. It must come to us by revelation from God, for we cannot find it by our own efforts. The price of wisdom is above rubies and it is not to be valued with pure gold. The Lord has written to us this divine message in the rugged grandeur and sublime simplicity of language which even a child can comprehend, and he has told us plainly, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding. A grain of divine grace is worth more than a ton of knowledge, and holiness is as near akin to perfect wisdom as sin is to insanity.
Therefore seek your understanding not in haste and not in any fancied voice apart from the Word, for haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Divine wisdom, dressed in robes of love and tenderness, invites you to run into her arms through the Scriptures, where Christ is set forth. We were by nature blind as bats to the things of divine truth, and it is only as grace comes and enlightens the understanding and changes the affections that we can receive the Word into the understanding so that it becomes sanctifying. Take heed what you hear and continue in the Word, praying that you may not only understand divine truth but be affected by it so as to repent of sin and live unto God and seek after holiness.

O Lord our God, look upon this seeking soul who asks for light. Thou hast promised to guide thy people with thy counsel and afterward to receive them to glory. Grant now clearness of understanding according to thy Word. Give not a fleeting fancy but that solid wisdom which comes from the fear of the Lord. Remove haste and obstinacy, give quiet submission to thy sovereign will, and let thy divine wisdom lead step by step. Open the eyes to behold wondrous things out of thy law, and cause the heart to depart from evil and to follow Christ who alone is the way, the truth and the life. Grant this for the glory of thy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Your request for revelation and guidance has been heard and we join with you in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.
We pray that the Father of glory would give to you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that the eyes of your understanding would be enlightened to know His will and to walk in it. As Scripture teaches, there is need of the Spirit and of an understanding wise in the knowledge of God, for the distance between our thoughts and His thoughts is great, and only He can bring us from darkness to light.
We ask God to give you more understanding through His Word and by His Spirit, to guide your steps, to make His truth clear to you, and to give you a heart to believe and obey what He shows you. True revelation never contradicts what God has already spoken in Scripture, but confirms it and leads us closer to Christ, who alone is the way of salvation.
Continue to seek Him in prayer, in reading the Scriptures daily, and in quiet trust before Him. Ask Him for wisdom, for He gives generously to those who ask in faith, and trust that He will lead you according to His good and perfect will.

The word that is translated revelation in the Bible means an unveiling, a lifting of the covering to let something be seen. Many people think of that book as a sealed or closed book that cannot be understood, but the truth is the opposite. From the very first verse it is presented as the unveiling of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him to show to His servants. It was made known through a messenger to John, who faithfully recorded what he saw and heard, and at times messengers and elders helped explain what was being shown. The heart of all true revelation is Jesus Himself being made known.
That helps us when we are seeking personal guidance. God is not trying to hide Himself from His children. He desires to reveal Himself and to make His ways known. The key that is given in Revelation chapter one verse nineteen is to write the things you have seen, the things which are, and the things which will be after these things. God gives understanding in an orderly way, helping us see what He has already shown, what is true in the present, and what lies ahead in His purpose.
Understanding comes by the work of the Holy Spirit. Scripture speaks of the Spirit as the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and might, of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. It is the same Spirit who was upon Jesus in fullness. Apart from Him we cannot grasp spiritual things, but with Him our eyes are opened to know the hope of our calling and the riches we have as children of God.
So my prayer for you is that the Father would grant you that Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ. I have asked that He will unveil Jesus more clearly to you, because when Christ is central everything else comes into focus. I have asked that He will give you counsel for the specific matter on your heart, that He will guide your steps, quiet confusion, and confirm His direction through His Word and His peace. As you acknowledge Him in all your ways and commit this decision to Him, trust that He will direct your path.
