Revelation about something specific

We join with you in prayer in Jesus' name for revelation, guidance, and greater understanding, and we thank you for asking us to seek the Lord together with you for this.

We understand the deep desire to have clear direction right now, and we know that God delights to give wisdom to His children when we ask Him. James 1:5 tells us But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. We take comfort that He does not withhold understanding from those who earnestly seek Him, but He gives generously.

We also hear your heart asking that it be given now, and we gently encourage you to trust not only in God's ability to reveal, but also in His perfect timing and His ways. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Sometimes the Lord answers immediately, and sometimes He leads us step by step as we continue to walk with Him, growing in faith and dependence on Him.

The Lord promises to guide those who call on Him. Jeremiah 33:3 says Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know. And Psalm 32:8 says I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. We cling to these promises with you. True revelation and understanding come through His Word and by His Holy Spirit, and our prayer for you is that the eyes of your heart would be enlightened to know Him more.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one to You. We ask that You, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, having the eyes of their heart enlightened as You promise in Ephesians 1:17-18. Grant them clarity where there is confusion, peace where there is uncertainty, and understanding where there are questions. Lead them in the way they should go and make Your will known to them. Help them to hear Your voice, to discern Your Spirit's leading, and to find confirmation in Your Word. Give them patience to wait on Your timing and faith to trust that You are working even when the answer is not yet fully seen. Draw them closer to Jesus as they seek, for in Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. We ask this in the name of Jesus, believing that through Him we have access to Your throne of grace. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in prayer and in the Scriptures, for His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Bring your specific questions before Him openly and honestly, and also seek godly counsel from mature believers as you wait. We trust that as you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will direct your paths and give you the understanding you need for each next step.

We hear how much you want clear direction right now, and that desire for more understanding is a good and honest prayer to bring to God.

One thing we have found helpful when people are seeking guidance is that His leading often becomes clearer as we get to know both Him and ourselves more honestly. It can be hard to sort out what is a passing thought or feeling, what is pressure we put on ourselves, and what is truly His direction. That sorting takes a little time, quiet, and humility, and it often helps to bring another trusted, mature believer into the process to listen and weigh things with you.

A simple next step that may help this week is to write down in one or two sentences the specific area where you are asking for revelation, then set aside a few unhurried minutes each day to bring that same request to God, listen quietly, and note what comes to mind. After a few days look back over those notes and share them with someone you trust who knows your walk with Christ, asking them to help you discern what aligns with God's character and wisdom.

Father, we lift our friend to You who is hungry for Your guidance. You see the specific question on their heart. Grant clarity in Your timing, quiet any confusion, and give a steady sense of Your presence as they seek You. Lead them step by step and help them recognize Your will as You reveal it. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your desire for revelation and understanding is a gracious longing, and it is right that you should bring it to the Lord in prayer. The God who has given us His Word from the first word of Genesis to the last line of Revelation has not left His people to walk in darkness. He has promised, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

Remember that all true light comes through Jesus Christ, for He is the sum and substance of that blessed Book. It is written, Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. There is no other way of salvation, and there is no true wisdom apart from Him. The work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will and to make men willing in the day of God's power, working in them to will and to do of His good pleasure.

You ask that guidance will be given to you now. Take comfort that God's will is the axle of the universe, and not a sparrow falls nor a step is taken apart from His providence. Yet His ways are not our ways, and His timing is not ours to command. Scripture teaches us to say, If the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. It is foolish to suppose we can both propose and dispose without asking God's consent. Rather we bow with submission to the will of God, and by that very bowing we are furnished with unerring guidance.

There is a revealed will of God which we must not violate, and it is plainly set before us in His Word. Nine times out of ten, look to the commandments and to the precepts of Scripture and you will at least know what you must not do, and knowing that, you will be able to conclude what you may do. There is also a providential will of God which we should always consult, with guidance which comes from the circumstances that surround us. If you live near to God, He will say things to you that He will not tell to others, not by a new voice beyond Scripture, but by opening your eyes to what is already written and by ordering your steps in His providence.

Therefore seek understanding not as a sudden secret apart from the Bible, but as illumination within it. Believe the Book, pray over it, and obey what you already know. He who is faithful in the light he has shall be given more.

Let us pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father.

O Lord our God, we thank Thee that this soul desires to know Thy will. Grant illumination by Thy Holy Spirit, that the Scriptures may be opened and the heart may understand. Change the will where it is stubborn, soften it where it is hard, and make it willing to follow whatsoever Thou shalt reveal. Guide with Thy counsel, keep from the path that would dishonor Thee, and lead in the way everlasting. Give not only knowledge, but obedience, and not only sight, but faith to trust Thee when Thy purpose is yet hidden. Let the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with this one, now and until that day when Thou shalt receive Thy people to glory. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
