Revelation about something specific

We come before the throne of grace with hearts open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, seeking divine revelation and understanding in the name of Jesus Christ. Father, we ask that You would remove any spiritual blindness or confusion that may hinder Your perfect will from being revealed. Your Word tells us in James 1:5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." We stand on this promise, believing that You desire to give wisdom and revelation to those who earnestly seek You.

Lord, we pray for clarity and discernment, that the eyes of understanding would be enlightened as Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:17-18, "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints." May this revelation not be for selfish gain or prideful knowledge, but for the building up of Your kingdom and the edification of Your people.

We also lift up the matter of guidance, asking that You would direct every step according to Your perfect will. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Father, we surrender our plans, our desires, and our understanding to You, asking that You would order our steps and align our hearts with Yours.

We rebuke any spirit of confusion, doubt, or fear that may be attempting to cloud this revelation. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We stand firm in the authority of Jesus’ name, declaring that no weapon formed against this understanding shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We bind every lying spirit and loose the spirit of truth, for Jesus said in John 16:13, "However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming."

If there is any unconfessed sin or area of disobedience in this life that may be hindering this revelation, we pray for conviction and repentance. Psalm 66:18 warns, "If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened." Father, search the heart and reveal anything that is not pleasing to You. We ask for a spirit of humility and repentance, that nothing would stand between this soul and the revelation You desire to give.

We also encourage a posture of patience and trust. Revelation often comes in Your perfect timing, not ours. Habakkuk 2:3 reminds us, "For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay." May there be a deep trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).

Lastly, we pray that this revelation would not only bring understanding but also transformation. May it draw this heart closer to You, deepen faith, and produce fruit that glorifies Your name. Let it be a lamp to the feet and a light to the path (Psalm 119:105), guiding every decision and action in alignment with Your Word.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming before You in the mighty name of Jesus. We trust that as we seek You with all our hearts, we will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). Pour out Your Spirit of wisdom and revelation, and let Your will be done in this life as it is in heaven. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.

We understand that longing for clarity, when you’re seeking direction on something specific and just want God to make it plain. That hunger for understanding is a good thing, and you’re not alone in it. We’ve been there too, and we’re grateful to stand with you now.

It’s easy to feel stuck when answers don’t come quickly, but God’s quietness isn’t distance. Often he uses the waiting to deepen our trust and to teach us to listen with more than just our ears. One thing that has helped us in similar seasons is setting aside a short, unhurried block of time each day, even just ten or fifteen minutes, to read a psalm or a Gospel passage slowly, then sit in the silence, and then simply talk to God about what’s on your mind. Not as a formula, but as a way of making space for him to settle your thoughts and nudge your heart. Sometimes his guidance comes as a quiet, steady conviction rather than a sudden revelation.

As we pray, we’re asking that God will give you that deeper understanding you’re seeking, and that he’ll calm any anxiety that may be tangled up in the waiting.

Father, thank you that you are a God who speaks and who knows our every need. We lift up our friend who is seeking your revelation and guidance. Calm their heart, clear away confusion, and grant the understanding they long for. In your time and your way, make the next step plain, and give them the patience to wait and the courage to follow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The most acute longing for revelation often springs from a soul already stirred by Divine Grace. A man whose life is one even and smooth path will see but little of the Glory of God, for he has few occasions of self-emptying, and therefore but little fitness for being filled with the Revelation of God. This hunger for understanding is not due to any natural intelligence that you possess; you were by nature blind as bats to the things of Divine Truth. The very fact that you cry out for more light is a token of a work of Christ in your heart which has changed your entire nature, aspirations, loves, hates, your whole self.

Yet take heed what you hear, and how you wait for this understanding. We are so apt to run ahead of the Lord. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. My Soul, seek earnestly the Divine Grace to stand still in obedience to your Lord's behest. The means of standing still is to wait awhile. Time is necessary for the full unfolding of His mind. Bow with submission to the will of God, by that very fact you are furnished with unerring guidance. Pray, yes, plead with holy importunity, but then be still and know that He is God.

When the answer tarries, do not suppose that a swifter path would have been better. It is a very, very solemn thing to have a sort of understanding of Divine Truth, but not to be affected by it so as to repent of sin, so as to live unto God, so as to seek after holiness. God often delays the bright revelation that the slower, deeper work of sanctification might be done in the secret places of the soul. He would teach you that Wisdom, when attended with discourtesy and unfeeling roughness, may be shunned, but Divine Wisdom, dressed in robes of love and tenderness, invites us to run into her arms. The delay itself is the tender robe.

There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, and among the rest, a principle like this, avoid everything that is evil. Walk in the light you have, and you shall have more light. If you have not yet the fulness of the revelation you crave, test your steps by this. The Grace of God dethrones obstinacy and gives, in its place, acquiescence in the Divine will. If it is needful for your deliverance, fire shall not burn you, neither shall the floods drown you. The Lord Jesus is the Amen of the Divine purposes, and not one syllable of His promise shall fall to the ground. You shall see how there is nothing upon earth which can stand against the Divine will.

Look for the Divine Presence as the one hope, for the Presence of God dissolves difficulties. What remarkable preservations have you already enjoyed; not miraculous, certainly, but full of wonder for all that. Let those past Divine interpositions feed your faith. And do not be dismayed if the revelation comes in a manner that first afflicts the heart, like the disciples who heard of their Master’s coming shame. The revealing often wounds before it cheers. Jesus has not deigned to dispute or to argue with you, but He claims for His words that they are Amen. We have accepted His teachings in that same spirit.

The petition is laid before the Throne. The comprehension you seek is not a mere academic grasping, but a partaking of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Go out every day covered and protected by Divine Grace, and then, and then only, can you be kept unspotted from the world while you wait. That waiting is not empty; it is the posture of a soul being led in a Divine captivity. He is guiding you, even in the dark, even in the ache for a clear word. The very need you feel is part of the guidance.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for revelation and guidance, for greater understanding. This is a noble request, but consider carefully how such gifts are received. The Lord Himself declared that coming to Him requires a revelation from above, a well-ordered soul to receive it. Understanding is not born of human reasonings alone, but of belief. When you seek to know what is hidden, do not make the error of demanding to grasp it by bare reasoning. That path leads only to unbelief. Faith is the eye of the soul; the reasoning power, when illumined by the divine Scriptures, becomes an unerring standard. Let the word of God dwell in you richly, and do not trust your own eyes, which are so easily deceived.

Before asking for revelation, examine the state of your soul. The passions that cling to us, love of wealth, vainglory, every unruly desire, darken the mind and make it incapable of receiving heavenly light. They are like wild beasts that devour our strength. How can a heart enslaved to such things receive the pure wisdom that comes from above? Kill these passions by the precious Blood of Christ received with full assurance, by the careful hearing of Scripture, and by almsgiving. For the present life is the season for right living; afterward comes judgment. If you would have God reveal His will to you, you must first offer a quiet and believing heart, freed from the noise of worldly affections.

I will indeed pray that you be given revelation according to your need. But know that God often grants true understanding through affliction and weakness. The Apostle Paul, after a great revelation, learned to glory in his weaknesses, for there the power of Christ rests. Do not despise your present trials or uncertainties; they may be the very school in which God teaches you what you long to know. Most gladly, then, should you accept the circumstances He appoints, even if they baffle your reason. In humility and patient faith, the mystery will be made known as it was to the saints: not by the senses, but by the inward clarity of a soul united to Christ. Trust that the same God who revealed the calling of the Gentiles to the apostles will not withhold from you whatever is necessary for your salvation and growth in grace.
