We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this prayer for restoration and healing in marriage. First, we must acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood alone that we are made clean and able to stand before God. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Now, to this request, we see a deep longing for reconciliation, and we join in praying for this marriage to be restored according to God’s will. The Bible tells us that marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). When two believers are united in marriage, they are called to love, honor, and cherish one another as God intended. Yet, we know that sin and brokenness can creep in, leading to misunderstandings, wounds, and separation.
We rebuke any spirit of division, pride, or unforgiveness that may be at work in this marriage. The Word of God commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13) and to bear with one another in love (Ephesians 4:2). If there has been sin—whether it be bitterness, unfaithfulness, or neglect—we pray that both husband and wife would repent and seek God’s mercy. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Father, we ask You to soften their hearts toward one another. Remove every barrier that stands between them—whether it be pride, past hurts, or unmet expectations. Let Your Holy Spirit bring conviction where it is needed and healing where there is pain. We pray that they would humble themselves before You and one another, seeking reconciliation with sincerity and grace.
Lord, if it is Your will, bring them back together in love and unity. Let forgiveness flow freely, and let Your peace rule in their hearts. Rebuild what has been broken, and restore their marriage stronger than before. May they seek You first in all things, allowing Your Word to guide their steps and Your love to bind them together.
We also pray for protection over this marriage. Guard their hearts from temptation, their minds from doubt, and their home from division. Fill their home with Your presence, so that love, trust, and harmony may abound. Help them to communicate with kindness and patience, to serve one another in love, and to keep their eyes fixed on You.
Heavenly Father, we trust in Your perfect timing. If this marriage is to be restored, we ask that You make a way where there seems to be no way. If there are still lessons to be learned or seasons of separation needed for growth, we pray that You would use this time to draw them closer to You and to one another.
We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We stand in faith, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). May this marriage be a testimony to Your faithfulness and grace, bringing glory to Your name.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
