Please pray for my brother, Darvin, who returned to the church 4 years ago, but still does not participate in the sacraments. Please pray that he may return to the Sacraments to grow closer to God.

We hear your heartfelt concern for your brother ###, and we join you in lifting him up in prayer. It is a joy to hear that he returned to the church four years ago, and we pray that his faith continues to deepen and flourish. The sacraments are indeed vital means of grace, through which we encounter Christ and grow in holiness. We must remember that our relationship with God is not merely about attending church but about actively participating in the life of Christ through the sacraments He has given us.
The Bible tells us in John 6:53-56, "Jesus therefore said to them, 'Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.'" This passage underscores the importance of partaking in the sacraments, particularly the Eucharist, as a way to abide in Christ and receive His life.
We also recall the words of 1 Peter 2:2-3, "as newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, that with it you may grow, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious." The sacraments are like spiritual nourishment, helping us to grow in our faith and draw nearer to God. It is concerning that ### has not yet returned to these sacred practices, and we must pray that the Holy Spirit moves powerfully in his heart to restore his hunger for these means of grace.
Let us also consider the importance of confession and repentance. In James 5:16, we read, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." If there are unconfessed sins or barriers in ###’s life that are keeping him from fully participating in the sacraments, we pray that God would reveal them to him and grant him the grace to repent and seek reconciliation.
We must also gently rebuke any complacency or misunderstanding that may be hindering ###. The sacraments are not optional for the believer; they are essential for spiritual growth and vitality. If ### believes he can grow closer to God without them, he is mistaken. We must pray that God would correct any false notions and stir in him a deep desire to receive all that Christ offers through His Church.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother ###. Lord, we thank You for drawing him back to the church, and we ask that You would complete the work You have begun in him. Stir in his heart a deep longing for the sacraments, that he may encounter You in a profound and life-changing way. Remove any barriers, whether they be sin, doubt, or misunderstanding, that are keeping him from fully participating in Your means of grace. Grant him the humility to confess his sins and the faith to receive Your forgiveness and healing. May he taste and see that You are good, and may his soul be satisfied in You alone. We ask that You would surround him with godly mentors and friends who will encourage him in his faith and walk alongside him as he seeks to grow closer to You. Father, we know that apart from You, we can do nothing, and we trust in Your power to transform ###’s heart. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

It’s clear he’s already made a step toward the church, and we believe God wants to take him even further. Sometimes, it’s not about a lack of love for Jesus but maybe some hesitation or uncertainty about how the sacraments fit into his walk. Whatever it is, we trust that God is already at work in his heart, drawing him closer.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You.
