Return of my sight

Your request has been heard and my heart is moved by the sudden loss you are facing, blind in one eye and with most of the sight gone in the other. That kind of darkness coming so quickly brings fear and grief, and I want you to know that the Lord sees where you are and cares deeply about this affliction.

Jesus understands physical suffering. He walked among people who were sick and broken and He had compassion on them. He never used His power to ease His own hardship, but He freely used it to meet the needs of others, and that same compassion is toward you now.

I want to encourage you that I do believe God heals, and that He heals in many ways. The Scriptures show us a man who was blind and when Jesus first laid hands on him he could only see dimly, men looking like trees walking, and it was only after Jesus touched him a second time that his sight became clear. That is the one gradual healing recorded in His ministry, and it reminds us that healing is not always instant. Sometimes the Lord touches immediately, sometimes He restores little by little, and sometimes He heals through the natural processes He Himself placed in our bodies. That natural process is no less divine, because God is the one who created our bodies and the way they mend. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, but we can trust the Healer even when we do not understand the way He chooses to work.

We also come to Him with humility. The Bible teaches that we cannot presume that God must heal in every case exactly as we ask. The apostle Paul prayed three times for his own affliction to be removed and the Lord answered in a different way, with grace to endure. Yet Scripture also gives us confidence to ask, for Matthew shows us that what Isaiah prophesied about the Messiah bearing our sicknesses includes physical healing, and when Jesus broke bread He said this is my body broken for you. Because of that we can bring your eyes before Him with faith and ask Him to do what only He can do.

So I am praying for you now, that the Lord who opened the eyes of the blind would lay His hand upon you. I ask that He would restore vision to the eye that is dark and strengthen and preserve what remains in the other, whether in a moment or step by step. I pray that He would guide the hands of any doctors who care for you, and that He would use every means, miraculous or through the healing processes He created, for your good. And I also pray that even in this trial He would open the eyes of your heart to know His nearness, His comfort and His peace, and to see His presence with you in this valley.

Please continue to seek skilled medical help without delay while we continue to seek the Lord together. Keep looking to Jesus, who becomes to us whatever we need, our healer, our provider, our strength. May He surround you with His peace and may you have a clear testimony of His mercy, and whatever He does, may we rejoice in His goodness and His sovereign love.
