We come before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude that you have lifted this request in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and by which we are saved. As it is written, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). We rejoice that you have acknowledged this truth, and we join you in prayer with confidence in His power and love.
First, we lift up the request for safe travel, asking the Lord to surround this individual with His divine protection. *"The Lord will preserve your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more."* (Psalm 121:8, WEB). Father, we ask that You command Your angels to guard and guide each step of this journey. Shield them from harm, danger, and every snare of the enemy. Bring them home safely, in perfect peace and according to Your will. May Your presence be a hedge of protection around them, and may they feel Your comforting hand upon them.
Now, regarding the relationship mentioned, we must speak truth in love, for God’s Word is clear about the sanctity of relationships. The Bible defines marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, a lifelong commitment that reflects Christ’s relationship with His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If this relationship is outside the bounds of a godly, biblical marriage—whether it involves courtship without the intent of marriage, cohabitation, fornication, or any other arrangement that does not honor God—we urge repentance and realignment with His Word. *"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB). Fornication, which includes any sexual relationship outside of marriage, is sin, and we are called to flee from it (1 Corinthians 6:18). If this applies here, we pray for conviction, repentance, and a turning toward God’s design for purity and holiness.
If this relationship is between two individuals of the same sex, we must lovingly but firmly declare that such a relationship is not in alignment with Scripture. *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom."* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). Our hearts break for the brokenness of this world, but God’s truth remains unchanging. We pray that if this is the case, both individuals would experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, turning from sin and embracing the freedom found in Christ. There is no sin too great for His grace, and we ask that He would draw them to repentance and a life surrendered to His will.
If, however, this is a godly courtship between a man and a woman seeking to honor the Lord with the intent of marriage, then we pray for healing, unity, and a foundation built on Christ. *"Unless the Lord builds the house, they who build it labor in vain."* (Psalm 127:1, WEB). Father, we ask that You would mend what is broken, restore trust, and fill their hearts with Your love. Remove any bitterness, pride, or unforgiveness, and replace it with humility, patience, and selfless love. May they seek You first, individually and together, and may their relationship be a testament to Your glory.
For both individuals, we pray that their hearts would be softened to the leading of the Holy Spirit. If there is unconfessed sin, bring it to light and grant them the courage to turn from it. If there is woundedness, heal it. If there is confusion, bring clarity. *"Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way."* (Psalm 139:23-24, WEB).
Father, we ask that You would work mightily in this situation. Let Your will be done, not ours. If this relationship is not of You, give them the strength to walk away and trust in Your perfect plan. If it is Your will for them to be together, then purify it, strengthen it, and use it for Your kingdom. Above all, may both individuals draw closer to You, finding their identity and fulfillment in Christ alone.
We declare Your promises over them: *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). May they surrender their plans, their hearts, and their future into Your hands, trusting that You are good and Your love endures forever.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
