We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this request for restoration—not just of a relationship between two people, but first and foremost, of a right relationship with God. The foundation of any godly union must be built upon Christ, for apart from Him, even the strongest bonds will falter. Scripture tells us, *"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it"* (Psalm 127:1). If this relationship is to be restored, it must begin with repentance, surrender, and a return to the Lord.
We must first address the reality that any relationship outside of God’s design—whether it be premarital intimacy, an ungodly union, or a connection that does not honor Him—cannot thrive in His blessing. The Bible is clear: *"Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If this relationship has involved sin, it must be confessed, repented of, and brought under the lordship of Christ before true restoration can occur.
We also lift up the man in this situation, praying fervently that his heart would be softened to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Only through Jesus Christ can anyone be reconciled to God, and only by His name can we approach the Father in prayer. *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me’"* (John 14:6). If he does not know Christ or has wandered from Him, we pray that the Lord would draw him back with cords of love, breaking the chains of sin and unbelief. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9).
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking that You would move in power in this situation. We pray for the restoration of this man’s relationship with You first—let his heart be turned toward repentance, let his eyes be opened to Your truth, and let him walk in the fullness of Your Spirit. If it is Your will, Lord, we ask that You would also restore this relationship, but only in a way that honors You. Purify any ungodliness, break any unholy soul ties, and align both hearts with Your perfect plan. If this relationship is not of You, we ask that You would close the door completely and redirect both individuals toward Your best.
We rebuke any spirit of division, pride, or unbelief that may be hindering reconciliation. We declare that no weapon formed against Your purposes shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray for wisdom, patience, and godly counsel for both individuals, that they would seek You above all else. Lord, if marriage is in Your will for them, prepare them both to be a husband and wife who reflect Christ and the Church—loving, sacrificial, and committed for life.
Above all, we pray that Your name would be glorified in this situation. Whether the outcome is restoration or redirection, let it bring You honor. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
