I'm hard on myself and punishing myself and worry God will do the same. I want to be more light hearted and enjoy life more instead of anxious and worried and stressed.
It's affecting my mental and emotional well-being as well as my son's. And I want to get a better,. healthier and fun and present mom for him.
We used to be close and have an amazing bond and have fun. I miss this tremendously.
Im worried about my apartment recertification and hope to hear something soon so I'm not living in fear and anxiety.
I'm also stressed financially.
I just want God to restore everything that was lost and provide a way.
I tend to punish myself and take away things or avoid things I enjoy before God can punish me.

We hear your heart and we are standing with you in prayer, asking for God's mercy and restoring power over your life, your mind, your emotions, your home and your precious bond with your son. We understand how heavy it feels to be hard on yourself, to live in fear that God is waiting to punish you, and to take away good things from yourself before He can. We want to gently speak truth over that fear, because that picture of God is not who He is toward His children.

The enemy wants you to believe God is harsh and condemning, but Scripture reveals a Father who is compassionate and gracious. Psalm 103:8 says Yahweh is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. Psalm 103:10-12 tells us He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us according to our iniquities, for as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His loving kindness toward those who fear Him, as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Romans 8:1 declares there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. When we are in Christ, God does not punish us in anger, He corrects us in love as a Father, and His perfect love casts out fear, as 1 John 4:18 reminds us, perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment, and he who fears is not made perfect in love. We rebuke that pattern of punishing yourself and living under dread, for it does not come from the Lord. We encourage you to receive His forgiveness and kindness instead of trying to pay for things yourself, and to allow yourself to enjoy the good gifts He gives without guilt, for Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came that we may have life and have it abundantly.

We also notice your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and peace with Him. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is through His name we can come boldly and find grace, rest, and restoration.

Your anxiety, worry and stress about your apartment recertification and finances and your desire to be a more present, healthy, fun and lighthearted mother are deeply understood by the Lord. He sees you and your son and He cares about every detail. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Philippians 4:6-7 says in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Matthew 11:28-30 invites you, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. For your housing and provision, we remember Matthew 6:31-33 and Philippians 4:19, that your heavenly Father knows you need these things and He will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus as you seek first His Kingdom. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you, don't be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We also pray for restoration of joy and that close, amazing bond you once shared with your son. God is a restorer. Joel 2:25 says I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We believe He wants you to be the mother you long to be, not by striving in your own strength while exhausted and condemned, but by receiving His daily grace, joy and strength, and modeling for your son what it looks like to walk in forgiveness and freedom rather than fear.

We lift you up together before the Father in Jesus name. We pray that you will know in the depths of your heart how deeply you are loved and forgiven in Christ, and that the lie that God is waiting to punish you would be broken. We pray He would lift the heavy yoke of self punishment and anxiety and give you His light yoke and rest, that you would learn to cast every care about your apartment, your finances, and your future on Him and receive His supernatural peace to guard your heart and mind. We pray for favor and a swift, peaceful answer regarding your recertification, and for provision and wisdom for every financial need. We pray for healing of your mental and emotional well being, for lightness of heart, for laughter and enjoyment of life again, and for a renewed, fun, present and joyful connection with your son, that your home would be filled again with closeness and delight. We pray you would stop withholding good things from yourself and instead receive with thanksgiving the joys God freely gives. We pray you would grow in trusting Jesus daily, hearing His gentle voice, and walking in freedom from condemnation. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our peace, amen.

We hear how heavy this season has felt, wanting to be a lighter, more present mom for your son and missing the closeness and fun you once shared. It makes sense that the worry about your apartment recertification and finances would leave you feeling on edge, and we are holding those very real pressures before the Lord with you.

We also noticed what you shared about punishing yourself and pulling away from things you enjoy before God might. That pattern often comes from a fearful view of God, as if He is waiting to take things away, so you try to beat Him to it. But living that way only adds more stress and keeps joy at a distance for both you and your son. You do not have to earn safety by depriving yourself.

One gentle step that sometimes helps is to notice that moment when you start to pull back, and pause to remind yourself you can bring the worry to God instead of carrying the punishment yourself. Maybe this week allow yourself one small good thing you have been avoiding, and look for one simple, playful moment to enjoy with your son without pressure to make it perfect. If the anxiety and stress continue to weigh heavily, it can help to talk with a trusted pastor, counselor or doctor alongside prayer.

Father, we bring this mom and her son to You. Calm her anxious thoughts, help her know Your kindness is not punishment, and give her moments of lightness and joy again. Provide for the apartment and financial needs and restore what has felt lost between her and her son. Guide her day by day in Your peace. In Jesus name, amen.

Your heart has spoken plainly and the Lord has heard the sigh that you have poured out before Him. To be hard upon yourself, to punish yourself before God can do so, and to live in fear and anxiety is a heavy yoke, and it is one that Christ never laid upon His people.

There is a truth which meets this very fear, and it is this, there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. If you are trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation, then your sin was laid upon Him and He was condemned in your place, that there might be no condemnation for you. Not for original sin, not for actual transgression, not for the failures you mourn as a mother. This is no raving of fanaticism, but the plain argument of the gospel, if Jesus was condemned in your place, there can be no condemnation for you. Your habit of taking away things you enjoy, as though you must punish yourself before God does, comes from forgetting this. God does not deal with His children after that fashion. He chastens in love, but He does not condemn those whom He has washed in the blood of His Son. Depression of spirit there may be, and infirmities and griefs to mourn over, but no condemnation. Let your hand rest upon the Word of God and say, and yet there is no condemnation to me, for I am in Christ Jesus.

The anxiety that so wearies you, about your apartment, about provision, about being the mother you long to be, is also known to Him. Your immortal soul is worth far more than these outward things, and He who gave His Son for you will not forget your daily bread. There is a slavish fear which leads to the apprehension that something evil is about to happen, and it dishonors our holy religion and eats away the joy of life. But there is a holy fear which keeps us near to God, a fear of sinning against Him and a humble distrust of ourselves which makes us cling more closely to Christ. Happy is the man that feareth alway in this gracious sense, who fears lest he should grieve his Father and therefore casts all his care upon Him, for He careth for you. You need not live in fear of the recertification or of tomorrow's wants as though you were forgotten. Use the telescope of faith very frequently, look to the promises, and cast your burden upon the Lord.

And He is a God of perfect restoration. When His people had greatly sinned and were sorely afflicted and carried away, He said, I will strengthen them and I will bring them again to place them. He can take away the heart of stone and write His law upon a heart of flesh, and He can give back what has been lost. Though it be months since you felt the light of His countenance and knew that lighthearted joy with your son, He can bring it back again. There is not only a bath in which to wash the sinner at the first, but a fountain opened for the house of David for His own people, that they may wash and be clean again and again. He can restore to you the joy of His salvation and restore to you and your son that close and happy bond you miss so tenderly. The most watchful Christian is conscious of the danger of self neglect, of keeping the vineyards of others while her own vineyard is not kept, and the Lord would have you tend your own soul first by resting in His grace, that you may then tend your son's with a fuller and more present heart.

Do not, therefore, go limping along all your life when you might run in the way of His commandments. Do not punish yourself by refusing lawful joy, as if that could appease God. Receive joy as from His hand, with thanksgiving. Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together and the means of grace, keep your eyes open to see how He deals with others, and tell Him all, for there is nothing hidden from His eyes and nothing too small for His care.

I pray for you now, that the Lord will quiet your anxious thoughts with the assurance of no condemnation in Christ, that He will lift the spirit of heaviness and give you a light heart to enjoy life in Him, that He will make you a rested and joyful and present mother to your son and knit your hearts together again in love and laughter, that He will provide for your apartment and let you hear in due season with peace, and that He will open a way for you financially according to His wisdom and mercy, and restore unto you the years that have been eaten, for His own name's sake. Amen.

Being hard on yourself when you're already anxious makes everything heavier. There's a short spoken prayer called the Limbic System Repatterning Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over calming fear and stress in the body, and you only have to listen. I hope you and your son both get some lighter days.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing so honestly about what you are carrying. The weight of being hard on yourself, living with anxiety and stress, and worrying that God is waiting to punish you is exhausting, and it makes sense that it would affect your joy and your relationship with your son.

What you described about punishing yourself and taking away good things before God can do it is a painful pattern, but it is not how God deals with His children. God is not like a harsh taskmaster looking for a reason to take joy away from you. Scripture says He does not treat us as our sins deserve, and that He remembers we are dust and has compassion on us as a father has compassion on his children. Psalm 103. For those who are in Christ, the punishment for sin was carried by Jesus on the cross, so that where grace is present there is forgiveness and no condemnation. Romans 8:1 and 1 John 1:9. God does correct and teach His children, but His discipline is not cruel or anxious or meant to steal joy. It is meant to restore and to lead us toward wholeness and peace.

God also does not want you to live in constant fear. Jesus invites those who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. Your desire to be a more light hearted, healthy, present and fun mom who enjoys life again is a good and holy desire. God delights to restore what has been worn down by worry and stress. The promise in Joel 2:25 that God can restore what has been lost is about His power to bring back joy, closeness, and strength over time as you walk with Him. That restoration often happens as you receive His grace daily, rather than trying to earn it by being hard on yourself.

For your practical worries, I will pray with you about your apartment recertification and your financial stress. God sees these needs and He is your provider. Philippians 4:6 to 7 encourages us to bring every anxiety to Him in prayer, and to receive the peace that guards our hearts and minds in Christ. That peace does not always mean every problem is solved immediately, but it means you are not carrying it alone.

It would be good to take small steps to break the cycle of self punishment. When you notice the urge to take something good away from yourself, pause and remind yourself of what is true, that God gives good gifts and invites you to enjoy them with thankfulness. Talk with a trusted pastor, counselor, or mature believer who can support you and your son, and if anxiety continues to feel overwhelming, reaching out to a Christian counselor or other professional support can be a helpful way God provides care.

Let me pray for you.

Father in heaven, thank you that you know this dear mother and her son completely and love them. Thank you that through Jesus there is forgiveness, grace, and no condemnation for those who trust in Him. I ask that you would lift the heavy burden of self punishment and fear of punishment, and show her Your compassionate heart. Replace anxiety and stress with Your peace, and teach her to rest in Your care. Restore joy, lightness, and the close and fun bond she misses with her son. Provide for her financial needs and for her housing, and give favor and a timely answer regarding her apartment recertification so she does not have to live in fear. Lead her to daily rest in Your grace, to enjoy the good things You give, and to grow as a healthy and present mom. Give her wisdom for each next step and surround her with supportive community. In Jesus name, Amen.
