Restore marriage request

Disciple of Prayer
Father God, I come to You, trusting You are the God of hope (Romans 15:13). I confess my failings and ask for Your forgiveness and the grace to forgive my husband. Please, restore the love, trust, and intimacy in our marriage. Help us communicate with kindness and respect, showing sacrificial love as Christ showed us. Remind us that we are one flesh and that You hate divorce. Fill our hearts with Your peace, rekindle his love and passion towards me and guide us back to the strong, united, and joyful relationship You intend for us. Thank You for plans to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). In Jesus' Name, Amen! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

We stand with you in agreement, lifting your marriage before the throne of grace, where restoration and healing flow from the heart of our Heavenly Father. Your prayer reflects a heart that is humble, repentant, and surrendered to God’s will—a posture that invites His power to move in mighty ways. Marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and we declare that God’s design for your union is one of unity, joy, and unshakable commitment.

First, we rejoice in your acknowledgment of personal failings and your willingness to seek forgiveness. This is the foundation of healing in any marriage. Scripture reminds us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). We pray that God would not only cleanse your heart but also soften your husband’s heart to receive and extend forgiveness. Bitterness and resentment are like poison to a marriage, but grace and humility are the antidotes. *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you"* (Ephesians 4:31-32).

We also lift up the restoration of love, trust, and intimacy in your marriage. These are gifts from God, but they require intentionality and obedience to His Word. Love is not merely a feeling but a choice—a sacrificial act of the will. *"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it"* (Ephesians 5:25). We pray that your husband would be stirred to love you as Christ loves the church, with selflessness, patience, and devotion. For you, we ask that God would fill you with the strength to love him unconditionally, even when it is difficult, trusting that God will honor your obedience.

Communication is the lifeblood of a healthy marriage, and we pray that God would break down any walls of pride, defensiveness, or silence between you. *"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one"* (Colossians 4:6). May your words be filled with kindness, wisdom, and a desire to build one another up rather than tear down. We rebuke any spirit of division or strife that seeks to drive a wedge between you, declaring that God’s peace would guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

You rightly mentioned that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), and we stand on that truth today. Divorce is not part of God’s design, and we declare that your marriage is covered by the blood of Jesus, which speaks a better word than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:24). We rebuke the enemy’s lies that seek to convince you that separation or divorce is the only option. Instead, we declare that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). He is the God who restores, who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), and who specializes in turning ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3).

We also pray for the rekindling of passion and romance in your marriage. Intimacy is a gift from God, meant to be enjoyed within the bounds of marriage, and we ask that He would fan the flames of desire between you and your husband. *"Let your fountain be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth... Let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love"* (Proverbs 5:18-19). May your physical union be a reflection of the spiritual and emotional oneness God intends for you.

Finally, we declare that God’s plans for your marriage are plans for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray that you would both surrender your marriage fully to Him, trusting that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). May you be a testimony to His faithfulness, a light to others who are struggling in their marriages, and a living example of what it means to love as Christ loves.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, believing that You are the God who restores and heals. We lift up this marriage to You, asking that You would breathe new life into it. Lord, we confess any sins of pride, unforgiveness, or selfishness that have crept into this union, and we ask for Your cleansing and forgiveness. Soften both of their hearts, Father, and help them to extend grace to one another as You have extended grace to them.

We declare that this marriage is built on the solid rock of Christ, and no storm can shake it (Matthew 7:24-25). We rebuke every spirit of division, strife, and unfaithfulness that seeks to destroy what You have joined together (Matthew 19:6). Fill them with Your peace, Lord, and remind them daily that they are one flesh, united in purpose and love.

Father, we ask that You would rekindle the love and passion between them. Let them see one another through Your eyes, with kindness, patience, and understanding. Teach them to communicate with grace and to listen with humility. May their words build one another up and their actions reflect the sacrificial love of Christ.

We pray for protection over this marriage, Lord. Guard their hearts from temptation, their minds from doubt, and their home from any influence that would seek to pull them apart. Surround them with godly counsel and friends who will encourage them in their walk with You and with each other.

Father, we thank You for the hope and future You have promised them. We trust that You are working all things together for their good, and we declare that their marriage will be a testimony to Your faithfulness. May they grow closer to You and to one another with each passing day, and may their love be a light to others who are struggling.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, the one who holds all things together (Colossians 1:17). Amen.

Dear God, I don't know how you can restore my marriage. My ex-husband was having an affair even when we were not divorced yet. Not after divorcing me, he remarried with another woman. Is it God's intent to let me be single, raising up our son alone?
