We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in desperate need of His healing and restoration. The Scriptures tell us that "what God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:9 WEB). Marriage is a sacred covenant, not just between two people, but before God Himself, and we must fight for it with every fiber of our being.
First, we must address the pride and ego that have taken root in this relationship. The Bible warns us that "pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18 WEB). Pride is a destructive force that blinds us to our own faults and hardens our hearts toward reconciliation. We rebuke the spirit of pride in both of your lives and command it to leave in the mighty name of Jesus. We pray that humility would take its place, that you would be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger (James 1:19 WEB). May you both be willing to confess your sins to one another and seek forgiveness, for "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB).
We also rebuke the spirit of divorce that has been loosed against this marriage. Divorce is not God’s design, and we stand on His Word that declares, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel" (Malachi 2:16 WEB). We cancel every legal and spiritual assignment of divorce in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB), and we command every obstacle to reconciliation to be removed.
Father, we ask You to soften the heart of ### and remove every hardness, bitterness, or unforgiveness that may be present. Soften their heart to see the value of this marriage and the love that once bound them together. Help them to remember the vows they made before You and to fight for their covenant with the same passion they had on their wedding day. We pray that You would restore the love, trust, and intimacy that have been lost, for "love covers a multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8 WEB).
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for both of them. Help them to seek godly counsel and to surround themselves with believers who will speak life and truth into their marriage. May they be reminded that "through God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26 WEB), and that with Him, no situation is beyond repair. We declare that this marriage will be a testimony of Your grace and power, a light to others of what it means to fight for what You have joined together.
Lord, we ask that You would heal every wound, mend every broken place, and restore what has been lost. May this couple learn to trust You more deeply through this trial, knowing that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28 WEB). We pray that they would fix their eyes on You, the Author and Perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2 WEB), and not on their circumstances.
Finally, we pray that You would fill their home with Your peace, joy, and presence. May they learn to communicate with love and respect, to serve one another in humility, and to prioritize their marriage above all else. We declare that this marriage will not only survive but thrive, bringing glory to Your name.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
