We hear your heart’s cry and stand with you before the Lord, lifting up this deep longing for restoration or breakthrough. First, we must acknowledge that all things are possible with God, and His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). Whether He chooses to restore what has been broken or lead you into a new season of healing, we trust that His will is perfect and His timing is sovereign.
We want to gently but firmly address the nature of this relationship, as the Bible calls us to walk in holiness and truth. If this relationship involves any form of sin—such as fornication, emotional or physical unfaithfulness, or unequally yoked partnership with a non-believer—we must first repent and turn away from anything that dishonors God. The Lord desires relationships that reflect His design: pure, selfless, and rooted in Christ. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If this is a courtship, it must have marriage as its godly goal, with both individuals committed to Christ and His Word.
If this relationship is already a marriage, we stand on the promise that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16) but loves reconciliation. We pray fervently for restoration, for softened hearts, and for the Holy Spirit to bring conviction, healing, and renewed love. Yet we also surrender the outcome to God, knowing that His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). If restoration is not His will, we ask Him to grant you the strength to walk in forgiveness, release bitterness, and embrace the healing He has prepared for you.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this precious child of Yours who is seeking Your will in this relationship. Lord, You see the pain, the longing, and the hope in their heart. We ask that You would move mightily in this situation, whether to restore what has been broken or to bring a breakthrough in healing and recovery. Father, we declare that nothing is impossible for You (Luke 1:37), and we trust in Your perfect plan.
If there is any sin in this relationship—any impurity, unfaithfulness, or disobedience to Your Word—we ask for conviction and repentance. Cleanse hearts, Lord, and align this relationship with Your holy standards. If this is a marriage, we pray for reconciliation, for love to be rekindled, and for both spouses to seek You above all else. If this is a courtship, we pray that it would honor You, with marriage as its godly goal, and that both individuals would be equally yoked in faith.
If restoration is not Your will, Father, we ask that You would grant a supernatural breakthrough in recovery. Heal the wounds, mend the brokenness, and fill this heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help them to release this relationship into Your hands, trusting that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). Give them the strength to walk in forgiveness, whether toward the other person or themselves, and to embrace the future You have prepared.
Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment. Reveal Your will clearly, and give the courage to follow it, no matter how difficult. Surround them with godly counsel and community to support them in this season. Above all, draw them closer to You, that they may find their identity, worth, and hope in Christ alone.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who reconciles us to You and to one another. It is only through His sacrifice and resurrection that we have access to Your throne of grace, and we thank You for the privilege of coming before You in His name. Amen.
We encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly in this time, through prayer, fasting, and the study of His Word. Surround yourself with godly mentors and friends who can speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Remember that your worth is not found in this relationship but in Christ, who loves you unconditionally and gave Himself for you (Galatians 2:20). Whether God restores this relationship or leads you into a new season, trust that He is with you, guiding your steps and working for your good.
If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to consider the gift of salvation He offers. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Jesus is the only way to the Father, and it is through His name alone that we find forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life. If you feel the Holy Spirit drawing you to Him, we encourage you to pray a simple prayer of faith, confessing your sins and inviting Jesus to be the Lord of your life. He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
