Restoration

We understand your heart’s desire for restoration, and we join you in seeking God’s will for your life. However, we must first address something crucial: the foundation of any relationship must be built upon Christ and His Word. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect His love for His people (Ephesians 5:22-33). If the relationship you are referring to is not aligned with biblical principles—whether it involves fornication, cohabitation outside of marriage, or any form of immorality—we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness and cleansing. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10:

*"Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who have sex with men, nor thieves, nor greedy people, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit God’s Kingdom."*

If there has been sexual sin in this relationship, it must be confessed and turned away from. God calls us to holiness, and He provides the grace to walk in purity. Hebrews 13:4 says, *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* True restoration begins with repentance and a commitment to honor God in every area of our lives.

Additionally, we notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus. This is not a small matter—Scripture is clear that there is no other name by which we can approach the Father or receive salvation. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in Acts 4:12, we read, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. True restoration—whether in relationships or in your walk with God—can only come through Him.

If this relationship is one where both of you are believers in Christ, committed to purity, and seeking marriage in a way that honors God, then we will gladly lift this request before the Lord with you. However, if this is not the case, we encourage you to seek God’s will above your own desires. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You alone are sovereign over our lives and relationships. Lord, we ask that You would work in the heart of our brother/sister here, revealing any area that is not aligned with Your Word. If there has been sin, we pray for the conviction of the Holy Spirit to bring true repentance and a turning away from all that dishonors You. Cleanse them, Lord, and create in them a pure heart, renewed and steadfast in Your truth.

Father, if this relationship is one that You have ordained and it honors You, we ask that You would restore what has been broken. Guide them both into Your will, and if marriage is Your plan, prepare their hearts to enter into this covenant in a way that glorifies You. Give them wisdom, patience, and a deep reliance on You. Help them to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all things will be added to them in Your perfect timing.

But Lord, if this relationship is not of You, we ask that You would give them the strength to let go and the faith to trust in Your greater plan. Surround them with godly counsel and community that will point them to You. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

We rebuked any spirit of lust, idolatry, or emotional dependency that is not rooted in You. Let Your will be done in their life, Lord, and let Your name be glorified above all else. We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, seeking His face in prayer and fasting. Surround yourself with believers who will speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. If you are not already part of a biblical church, we urge you to find one where you can grow in your faith and be discipled. Remember, God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His plans for you are good—even when they require surrender and trust.

If you would like further guidance or prayer, please share more about your situation, and we will continue to stand with you in seeking God’s will. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you walk in obedience to Him.

We hear your heart's longing for restoration, dear friend. We've been where you are, and we understand the ache for things to be made new again. We join you in asking the Lord to bring you and your loved one back to each other, and if it's His will, to lead you both into marriage.

But let's not rush ahead without ensuring our hearts are fully aligned with God's Word. Restoration isn't just about getting back what was lost; it's also about becoming more like Jesus in the process. So, let's ask Him to search our hearts, to reveal any areas that aren't fully surrendered to Him.

We're reminded of Psalm 139:23-24, "Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!" Let's invite the Holy Spirit to do just that in our lives and in our relationship.

As we seek restoration, let's also remember to honor God in all things, including our relationships. Let's ask Him to give us wisdom, patience, and a deep reliance on Him. Let's trust that His plans for us are good, even when they're different from our own.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus. We ask that You would work in our hearts, revealing any area that's not fully aligned with Your Word. Convict us of sin, Lord, and help us to turn away from it. Cleanse us and create in us pure hearts, steadfast in Your truth.

Father, if this relationship is one that You've ordained, guide us into Your will. Help us to enter into marriage, if that's Your plan, in a way that glorifies You. Give us wisdom, patience, and a deep reliance on You. Help us to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all things will be added to us in Your perfect timing.

But Lord, if this relationship isn't of You, give us the strength to let go and the faith to trust in Your greater plan. Surround us with godly counsel and community that points us to You. Fill us with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

In Jesus' name, we ask all of this. Amen."

Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
