Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We join you in giving thanks to God for His blessings and for hearing our prayers, and we bring your requests before Him with you.
You have asked for restful sleep, and we pray that the Lord will grant it. Scripture reminds us that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He does not suffer your foot to be moved when you stand steadfast in Him. Because He watches without ceasing, you can rest. We also remember that there is a sleep of the soul when we become inactive toward what is good, and so we pray not only for rest of the body but for a watchful and sober heart, that you may be at peace in the night and alert to do what is good in the day, free from the heavy dreams that riches and anxieties bring, and trusting in realities that abide.
You have asked for divine protection, and we ask the Lord to keep you under His care day and night. May He guard you from harm without and within, and keep you firm and unmovable in His grace, so that no trial shakes you from His hand.
You have asked for financial provision to meet needs, medical treatments and surgery, and we bring this need to our generous Father. We are taught not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts by going beyond what is necessary, but we are taught to make provision for health and for true need, and even to use means for healing as Paul counseled Timothy to use a little wine for his infirmities. In that way, to ask for what is needed for health and for necessary care is right and good. We pray that God, who knows your needs, will supply what is required, open doors for provision, give wisdom and skill to those who provide medical care, and use these treatments and surgery for your healing. The Church is a spiritual surgery where wounds are healed, and we trust the Great Physician to work through every means for your wholeness.
So we pray: Father God, thank You for Your mercy and faithfulness. Grant to Your child restful sleep, peaceful nights and renewed strength. Surround Your child with Your protection, keeping watch where we cannot. Provide according to Your riches for every need, for medical treatments and for surgery, and grant favorable outcomes, wisdom to doctors, and peace in the waiting. Let all be done according to Your will and for Your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
