Rest from the Holy Spirit (Jul 12th)

Verse

"Where is the one who led them through the bottom of the sea? They were like fine stallions racing through the desert, never stumbling. As with cattle going down into a peaceful valley, the Spirit of the Lord gave them rest. You led your people, Lord, and gained a magnificent reputation."

Isaiah 63:13-14 nlt

Thought

Rest — true, genuine, deep rest — comes from the Spirit of the Lord. And when that sense of rest is gone, we need to seek the Spirit of God and look carefully at our lives and see if we have abandoned the Spirit's influence in our lives. The Spirit brings rest for our souls, so let's seek to be attentive and responsive to the Spirit's guidance and leading in our lives.

Prayer

O Father, please use your Spirit to minister to me when I sleep so that I can be rested and refreshed. Tune my heart to follow the direction and lead of your Spirit so that when I come to the end of my day, I rest securely in the knowledge that I have lived in the center of your will. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
