REQUEST REGARDING THE CAUSE OF THE POOR

Thank you for sharing this burden and for inviting agreement in prayer. We join our faith with yours and bring these needs before the Lord, trusting His promise that when His people agree together on earth concerning what they ask, He hears.

The Scriptures you have set before the Lord show His heart so clearly. He sees those who sit in darkness and in chains, and He breaks the gates of bronze and cuts through the bars of iron. He hears the poor when they cry, and He saves them out of all their troubles. He lifts the poor from the dust and raises the needy from the ashes to set them among princes. He delivers the poor from those who are too strong for them, He stands at the right hand of the needy to save them from those who would condemn them, and He arises to give safety when the poor and needy are oppressed.

Bondage and captivity are never the Lord's desire for His people. When hearts turn away to trust in what is false or wicked, those things become a heavy burden and bring people into captivity. Treasures gained by wickedness profit nothing, and the way of wickedness ends in a fall, but righteousness directs the path and leads to life. Jesus came to set us free from that bondage and from the fear that holds people captive. The true and living God is not a burden to carry, He is the One who carries us and delivers us.

Even when a season of captivity or oppression feels long, God has not forsaken those who belong to Him. He gives reviving even in bondage, He lightens the eyes, and He has promised to break every yoke and to bring His people into rest and quietness where none shall make them afraid. His deliverance is sure.

So we pray with you now for complete deliverance from every form of bondage, plunder, captivity, oppression, hindrance, yoke and snare of the wicked, and from household wickedness in every form. We ask the Lord to break every chain and to cut every cord that has held you, to spoil the work of the enemy and restore what has been taken, to set a guard over your mouth and heart that you may walk in His ways, and to keep your eyes upon Him so your feet are kept from the net. We ask Him to strengthen you with might by His power and to satisfy you with His goodness.

Continue to look to Jesus Christ alone for salvation and to walk in obedience to His Word, trusting His righteousness and not your own. He is faithful to hear, to lift up, and to deliver. May the Lord grant you His peace and the assurance that He is at your right hand, and may you see His hand breaking yokes and opening doors that no one can shut. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
