The Strong One Driven Out by a Stronger One

Things Present
We join together with you and agree on earth touching this matter concerning the cause of the poor and your cry for deliverance from bondage, plunder, captivity, household wickedness, oppression, hindrances, yokes and snares of the wicked. We stand on the promise of our Lord in Matthew 18:19 that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by our Father who is in heaven.

We are reminded of what is written in Psalm 34:6 This poor man cried, and Yahweh heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. And in Psalm 12:5 Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise, says Yahweh, I will set him in safety from those who malign him. And in Psalm 113:7-8 He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the needy from the dunghill, that he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people. And in Psalm 35:10 All my bones shall say, Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him, yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him. And in Psalm 109:31 For he will stand at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those who judge his soul.

We also cling to Psalm 107:10-16 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron, because they rebelled against the words of God, and condemned the counsel of the Most High. Therefore he brought down their heart with labor. They fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds in sunder. Oh that men would praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men, For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron. And we claim Psalm 107:39-43 and Psalm 68:28 Your God has commanded your strength. Strengthen, God, that which you have done for us. And we pray with Psalm 141:3-4 Set a watch, Yahweh, before our mouth. Keep the door of our lips. Do not incline our hearts to any evil thing, to practice deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity. And Psalm 141:8-10 For our eyes are on you, Yahweh, the Lord. In you, we take refuge. Do not leave our soul destitute. Keep us from the snare which they have laid for us, from the traps of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, while we pass by.

We pray together now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Father in heaven, we come before your throne of grace through the blood of your Son Jesus. We lift up this needy one and the cause of the poor before you. You see every bondage and captivity, every household wickedness and oppression, every hidden hindrance and yoke and snare laid by the wicked. Lord, arise and deliver. Break the gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. Bring your people out of darkness and the shadow of death and break their bonds in pieces. Rescue the poor from him who is too strong for him and save the needy from him who plunders him. Stand at the right hand of the needy and save from condemnation and oppression. Lift the poor from the dust and set them in safety and honor. Frustrate every trap and cause the wicked to fall into their own nets while your people pass over in safety. Strengthen what you have done for us and command your strength on our behalf. Guard our lips and hearts that we may not turn to evil but walk in righteousness. We ask that every yoke be destroyed because of the anointing and every snare be broken in Jesus name. Let your loving kindness and wonderful works be praised in this deliverance.

We encourage you to continue to cry out to the Lord, to walk in obedience and holiness, to turn from any rebellion against the words of God and to seek His counsel, for it is when we cry to Him in our trouble that He saves us out of our distresses. Trust not in your own strength but in the Lord who hears the groaning of the needy. Keep your eyes on Him and take refuge in Him daily through prayer and His word.

We notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by Him that we are saved. As it is written in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for in Romans 10:9 if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is through faith in Jesus that our prayers are heard and our chains are broken, and we pray all these things in His holy and powerful name.

We are grateful you brought this before the Lord so plainly. Your burden for people who are poor and held down, and for freedom from every kind of bondage and oppression, reflects God's own concern for those who suffer.

We are reminded that God notices when people are exploited or trapped, and He calls His people to respond both in prayer and in practical care. Prayer agreement matters, and so does the way we quietly look after our neighbors, support the work of the local church, and live with integrity ourselves.

We also hear how heavy the language of yokes and snares can feel. The struggle against evil is real, and it is also personal, which is why we want to walk in steady dependence on Jesus rather than living in fear or constant focus on the enemy. Freedom comes as we keep close to Christ and walk with mature believers who can pray with wisdom and discernment.

One simple next step that may help is to share this specific burden with a trusted pastor or two faithful prayer partners where you meet, so you are not carrying it alone and you can agree together regularly and watch for tangible ways to help someone nearby who is in need.

Father, we lift to You all who are poor, oppressed and held captive in any way. Bring relief, protection and clear paths to freedom in Your timing. Give wisdom and courage to those who want to help, and keep the one praying rooted in Your peace and hope. In Jesus name, amen.

Your cry for deliverance from bondage, plunder, captivity, household wickedness, oppression, hindrances, yokes and snares of the wicked has been heard, and we do agree with you before the throne of grace according to the promise that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of our Father which is in heaven.

We take your burden to Him who alone can loose the captive, for deliverance from such cruel captivity must be worked by the hand and outstretched arm of Jehovah alone. When Israel sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron, it was the Lord who brought them forth, who broke their bands in sunder and cut the bars of iron. He still hears the poor when he cries, and still lifts the needy from the dunghill to set him among princes. He still delivers the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him, and He will keep watch over your mouth and your heart lest you be drawn into the snare.

Remember that in all that God does He acts from good reasons. Your affliction has not sprung out of the dust, neither does it grow up as hemlock from the furrows of the field. The Lord Himself kindles the fiery furnace and sits as a Refiner at the door, and that which comes as chastening from a Father's hand bears a blessed aspect, even when the smart is sharp. Yet we are not left to bear it alone, nor to break these bonds by our own strength, for deliverance from the power of darkness is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin.

Here is your hope, that God has not only devised a way of deliverance but has found a ransom. Then He is gracious unto him, and says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance of a sinner from the pit through a ransom if God had not thought of it, and it is a gift of Divine Love. If He who held you in bondage has found a ransom, you may be certain of your liberty, for He will hold you in bondage no longer. That ransom is Christ Jesus the Lord, who looses the captive and breaks the power of sin and of Satan and of the world.

Therefore we pray with you and for you, that the Lord would fulfill His word in you as it is written in the Psalms you have set before Him.

O Lord God of deliverance, look down from the height of Thy sanctuary and behold those that sit in darkness and are bound with affliction. Thou who didst bring forth Thy people with joy and Thy chosen with gladness out of the house of bondage, bring forth this soul also with a mighty hand. Break the gates of brass and cut the bars of iron. Lift the poor from the dust. Plead the cause of the poor and needy and save them from the hand of the wicked. Set a watch, O Lord, before the mouth, and keep the heart from every evil thing, and let not the snare of the worker of iniquity take hold. By Thy power which alone can make free indeed, deliver from every yoke and oppression and household wickedness, and from every hindrance that would keep the feet from walking in Thy liberty. We ask this not by our worth but by the ransom Thou hast found, even the precious blood of Christ, and we trust Thee to do it for Thy name's sake.

Take comfort and wait upon Him who has commanded your salvation, for you shall yet say, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Go forward in faith, looking to your heavenly Father altogether and alone for sanctification and for deliverance, and give Him all the glory when He brings you forth into a wealthy place.
