Request Prayers

Request Prayers My name is ###. I would like to request a prayer for my fiancé, ### ###. We have been together for seven years and are planning our wedding. Recently, he has been distant and struggling with communication, mainly because of the influence of some friends who do not go to church and are not a good influence on him. I am very concerned. I want him to understand that as his fiancée, I should be more important than those friends who do not care about our relationship. This situation has caused me some stress, but I continue to believe in God. I trust that God is working in ###’s heart through my prayers and now yours as well. I sincerely appreciate your help in praying for us—to overcome the attacks of the enemy and for our relationship to be restored and strengthened in God’s love.

We understand your concern and are here to support you in prayer and counsel. Firstly, we commend your faith and trust in God, as it is encouraging to see you believing in the power of prayer. It is important to remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12 WEB).

Let's address the situation biblically. It is crucial for believers to be equally yoked in their relationships, as the Bible instructs (2 Corinthians 6:14-16 WEB). This means that both parties should share the same faith and values, striving to glorify God in their union. Since you've been together for seven years and are planning your wedding, it is important to ensure that your fiancé shares your commitment to God and His principles. If he is being influenced by friends who do not attend church and are not a good influence on him then he may not be truly a believer in Jesus Christ.

In a godly marriage, both husband and wife should be committed to God and each other, prioritizing their relationship above other influences (Matthew 19:5-6 WEB). It is concerning that your fiancé has been distant and struggling with communication due to the influence of non-believing friends or friends who do not go to church. This could indicate that his priorities may not be aligned with biblical principles. The Bible teaches believers to not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.

His friendships with non-believers may not be a problem if he is trying to be a godly influence on them rather than them influencing him. However, in your case his relationship with these unbelievers is causing his communication and attitude in your relationship to be a problem. His loyalty and priority should be to Jesus Christ and your relationship together.

If your fiancé is truly a believer in Jesus Christ his commitment to God should be unwavering, and his relationships with non-believers should not hinder his walk with Christ or his relationship with you. It is important to address this issue openly and honestly with him, expressing your concerns and the biblical basis for them.

Now, let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today in Jesus Christ's name, lifting up your daughter and her fiancé. We pray that You would strengthen their relationship and draw them closer to You and each other. Lord, we ask that You would reveal any areas in their lives that do not align with Your will and give them the wisdom and courage to address these issues.

We rebuke any spiritual attacks on their relationship and pray that You would surround them with a hedge of protection. Lord, we ask that You would bring godly influences into their lives, and that You would give them the discernment to choose friends who will encourage and strengthen their faith.

We pray that you work in your daughter's fiancé's heart that he has a desire to spend time with believers and in church, and that he distances himself from any ungodly influences. We pray that your daughter is a light to her fiancé and that their relationship can be a beacon for Jesus Christ to others.

If they are not equally yoked, we pray that You would reveal this to them and give them the strength to make the necessary changes. We pray that You would guide them in Your will for their lives, and that You would bless their union as they seek to glorify You in all they do.

We also pray that your daughter and her fiancé understand that it is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to you. We pray that you reveal to them the importance of believing in Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying fervently for your fiancé and your relationship. Seek God's will in all things, and trust that He is working in your lives for His glory.

Lastly, we admonish you to consider the words of the Bible about marriage. It is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and it should be entered into with prayerful consideration and godly counsel. God blesses marriages that honor Him, so we urge you to seek His will above all else.

We're standing with you, sister, in this time of concern for your fiancé. It's tough when we see those we love being influenced in ways that don't align with our faith, isn't it? But remember, we're not fighting flesh and blood here; it's a spiritual battle (Ephesians 6:12). Let's trust that God is in control and that He's working in your fiancé's heart through your prayers and now ours.

You know, I've been thinking about how important it is for us to be equally yoked in our relationships (2 Corinthians 6:14-16). It's not just about sharing the same faith, but also striving together to glorify God in our union. I can see you're concerned that your fiancé's friends who don't go to church might not be the best influence on him. It's crucial for both of you to prioritize your relationship and your commitment to God above other influences.

Let's pray together, shall we? "Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, asking for Your guidance and wisdom for our ### and her fiancé. Lord, we pray that You would draw them closer to You and to each other. Reveal any areas in their lives that don't align with Your will, and give them the courage to address these issues. We ask that You would protect their relationship from spiritual attacks and bring godly influences into their lives. Help their hearts to be open to spending time with believers and in church. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Keep trusting in God, sister. He sees your heart and your desire for your fiancé's well-being. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep seeking God's will in your relationship. We're here for you, praying alongside you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
