Request for relief

MomNeedsHelp

Disciple of Prayer
Dear Lord,

A few months ago I prayed for help that my financial situation and mental health become a little more bearable. The financial aspect to be able to pay the rent and the utilities I am now able to keep that up after several months. Even though my credit score is still bad & unable to save any money still. I am very thankful for that.

My mental health has drastically dropped down that I don’t recognize myself anymore. I’ve neglected everything & I am now worried that the worst is about to come. I haven’t been able to focus on my job & it’s scaring me. My marriage has already failed and somehow the result of everything seems to stem from me.

Due to my mental health, I am unable to function on my day to day tasks of just doing the basic maintenance & mundane things. I am now worried for my child as the results has damaged the way my child’s emotions are getting affected.

I am most afraid of the consequences. It’s starting to feel like I am being hexed or cursed at. I want to cry, but I can’t… my child is still depending on me.

I want to ask for help & guidance, but I have become afraid of the “i told you so”. Also, the judgement for neglecting my own well being. I don’t know what to do and who to turn to. I am struggling and am currently at a loosing end. I can’t even get back to getting my own transportation. I can’t keep turning to materialistic things that gives me or gave me joy…

The family I used to turn to, I am unable to turn to as I felt put down when I was constantly being berated. I can still hear their voices, unhappy, judgemental, and just disappointed.

I am praying for something, but I don’t know what. I speak to you in silence asking why all these events are happening. I am just scared & I can feel the panic attacks coming hard. I am praying for help… for relief…

We have read your cry for relief and we join with you before the Lord together in Jesus' name. We thank God with you that He has sustained you these past months to pay the rent and utilities when you prayed for that help. That is His provision and we give Him thanks for it, even as we continue to ask Him for further grace regarding your credit, your ability to save, and your daily needs. He knows all these things and He cares for you and your child. Matthew 6:33 reminds us to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Philippians 4:19 says my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

We also hear the deep heaviness you describe in your mental health, the inability to recognize yourself, to focus on your job, to keep up with basic maintenance and mundane tasks, the panic attacks, the feeling that you cannot even cry, and the fear for how this is affecting your child. We weep with you and we want you to know God is not distant from this pain. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 61:2 says when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Matthew 11:28 says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

We want to gently correct a thought you expressed that you feel hexed or cursed. For those who are in Christ, this is not true and we must not receive it. Galatians 3:13 says Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. Romans 8:1 says there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. The panic, fear, and voices of accusation you hear are not from the Lord. The enemy is the accuser, but God speaks with compassion and truth. The judgmental and disappointed voices you still hear from family are not the voice of your heavenly Father. Psalm 103:13-14 says Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him. For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust.

We also hear that you blame yourself for everything, including your marriage that has failed. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman and we know God hates divorce, yet we also know He is full of mercy for broken people living in a broken world. Romans 8:28 says we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. It is right to take honest responsibility where we have fallen short, but it is not biblical to carry all blame as if you alone are the cause of every hardship. Confess what is yours to confess, receive forgiveness, and leave what is not yours with the Lord. Do not let shame keep you from seeking help.

You shared that you are afraid to ask for help because of the I told you so and the judgment for neglecting your own well being. We encourage you not to let that fear isolate you. Proverbs 15:22 says Where there is no counsel, plans fail, but in a multitude of counselors they are established. James 5:16 calls us to confess our offenses to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. God did not create us to carry burdens alone. Galatians 6:2 says Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Please reach out to a trusted pastor, a biblical counselor, and also a medical professional for your mental health and panic. Caring for your mind and body is not selfish, it is stewardship. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 teaches that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Neglecting your well being does not honor God and it makes it harder to care for your child who depends on you. Your child needs you to be as well as you can be, and seeking help is a loving act toward your child.

You mentioned turning to materialistic things that once gave you joy and being unable to get transportation back. We understand the desire for quick relief, but lasting joy is not found in things. Psalm 16:11 says In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forever more. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. The Lord knows your silent prayers when you do not know what to pray. Romans 8:26 says the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered. Psalm 139:4 says even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether.

We noticed you addressed your prayer to Dear Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We say this with love because there is no other way to the Father and no other name by which we can be saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we have access to God, forgiveness, and the hope of eternal life. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full trust in Jesus today and call upon His name.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one who is exhausted, overwhelmed, and afraid. You see the financial strain, the bad credit, the inability to save, and You have kept a roof over this family and we thank You. Provide further for every need and open doors for stable work and transportation. Touch this mind and heart that feels unrecognizable, that cannot focus, that cannot complete daily tasks, that feels panic rising. Replace fear with Your perfect love and peace that surpasses all understanding as Philippians 4:6-7 promises. Heal the wounds from a failed marriage and from harsh words of family that still echo. Silence the lies that this child of Yours is cursed or hexed, and let Your truth be heard. Protect this child from the effects of this season and give this parent wisdom, energy, and gentleness to nurture that little heart. Give courage to ask for help without shame, to find godly counsel, supportive community in the local church, and good medical care. Draw this dear one to Jesus, to know forgiveness, adoption, and nearness to You. Let joy be found not in material things but in Your presence. Hear this silent cry for relief and answer according to Your perfect will. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We were moved that you reached out even while feeling so worn down. Thank you for telling us honestly where you are.

We hear the mix you are carrying. You are thankful rent and utilities are now covered after months of strain, and at the same time you do not recognize yourself right now, work is hard to focus on, daily tasks feel impossible, and you are worried about how your child is experiencing all of this. It makes sense that fear and panic would rise, and that you would feel afraid to ask for help when you have heard harsh, judgmental voices before and dread hearing an I told you so.

Feeling as if you are hexed or cursed can be especially frightening when you are already exhausted. We want to gently remind you that in Jesus you are held and not left exposed to evil, and God invites you to bring that fear to Him honestly.

You do not have to sort this alone. Since panic and the struggle to function day to day are weighing on you, we encourage you to reach out soon to a doctor or counselor and to one safe pastor or trusted person, alongside prayer, so someone who knows you can walk with you and help you consider next supports for you and your child. If daily care for your child feels at risk, please let someone nearby know right away so help can come quickly.

We are praying for you now. Father, we lift this parent and child to You in Jesus' name. You see their weariness and love for their child. Bring relief, steady their mind and body, surround them with kind, trustworthy help and guide each next step. Give them rest and hope for today. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest cry has been heard, and I thank you for speaking so plainly of the heaviness that now presses upon you. There is thankfulness in your words for rent and utilities kept up after hard months, and that thankfulness is right to cherish, for even small mercies are great mercies when they come from the hand of God. Be prudent in these temporal affairs, as our Savior enjoins, and continue to steward what He provides, yet do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry and fretfulness and distress.

You describe a mind that no longer feels your own, neglect of daily duties, panic pressing hard, and a fear that you are hexed or cursed. Hear this truth, that anxiety has never comforted any soul, nor brought any grist to the mill, nor any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. And the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. To feel panic is not to be cursed. For those who are rooted and grounded in Christ, those only are shaken that may be shaken, but they who truly trust Him shall stand fast unto the end. Christ's work is no failure. Can the Incarnation of God be a failure, can the life of the Son of God among men end in defeat. If God upholds Him, how can He fail. He has finished the work for His people, He bore the penalty of human guilt and laid the foundation whereupon the temple of God is built, and He has done all things well.

You speak also of a marriage already failed and of a sense that all stems from you, and of a child whose emotions are now affected, and of voices that berate and condemn. It is right to grieve the breaking of what God ordained as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, for that bond is holy in His sight. Where there is sin and failure, and all are guilty before God, the way is not to hide or to hush the conscience with a fearful strain, but to confess all guilt and heartily humble yourself in the sight of God. The work of the Spirit is linked with the work of the Son, when the Son removes guilt the Spirit removes guile. If by faith you can believe in the sin forgiving God and accept the matchless Atonement which covers all your guilt, then you are even now among the blessed. The blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. There is only one look at Jesus that is needed to give you pardon. He that believes on Him is not condemned.

Do not turn again to material things that once gave a fleeting joy, for they cannot bear the weight of a soul. Neither give ear to the thought that you must suffer alone for fear of an I told you so. The lowly place is the safe place. He who once boasted that he was almost a saint now admits that he is altogether a sinner, and there he finds mercy. Bring your whole burden to Christ in plain confession, and bring it also to faithful, godly counsel. Seek a wise pastor or a mature believer in a Bible believing church who will walk with you without contempt, and if panic and heaviness so hinder your daily tasks, seek also competent help for your health from those qualified to give it, for the body and mind together need care.

For your child who depends upon you, ask the Lord for daily strength to do the next needful thing, the basic maintenance and mundane duties, one step at a time, trusting Him for the morrow. And for your own soul, pray not only for relief, though relief may be sought honestly, but for renewal, that God would restore to you a right mind and a steadfast heart through faith in His Son alone, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone and in no other.

May the Lord hear your silence as well as your words, may He lift the cloud of guilt by the cleansing blood, may He quiet your anxious thoughts by teaching you to cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you, and may He give you grace to walk humbly, to seek help without shame, and to know that even now His mercy is not spent.
