We are grieved to hear about the struggle with lust and pornography, but we are here to support and pray for you. First, we want to remind you of what the WEB bible says, "But among you there must not be either sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or covetousness, for these are unbecoming to saints" (Ephesians 5:3) and "If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna." (Matthew 5:29).
Lust and pornography are indeed sins that need acknowledgement and repentance. The good news is God's forgiveness is available for everyone who repents and turns to Him. Remember that God is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this beloved one who is struggling with lust and pornography. We confess this sin to You, and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. We pray that the blood of Jesus will wash away this sin, and that through the power of the Holy Spirit, this one may overcome this temptation.
We ask for your strength and grace to resist the devil and flee from these desires. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13)
In the name of Jesus Christ, we ask You to break the chains of addiction and bondage, and to restore purity and holiness. We pray that you fill this one with the Holy Spirit and the knowledge of your will with wisdom and understanding. "Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth." (Ephesians 4:23-24).
We ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to hold fast to the promises of God, and to draw near to Him in this time of struggle. Memorize and meditate on scripture to strengthen your spirit. Seek out Christian community and accountability to support you in this journey of faith.
