We come before you in this time of deep distress, lifting up our brother who is walking through a season of confusion, fear, and spiritual turmoil. First, we want to gently but firmly address something critical: the mention of being "jinxed," "spelled," "hexed," or affected by the "evil eye." Beloved, these ideas do not come from Scripture, and they can lead us away from the truth of God’s Word. The Bible makes it clear that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). However, as children of God, we are not left defenseless. Our authority and protection come from Christ alone, not from superstitions or fear of curses. Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33), and "greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). If there is any spiritual attack, we must remember that our victory is found in the name of Jesus, through prayer, the Word of God, and the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
We also notice that while you addressed this request to "brothers and sisters," there was no mention of the name of Jesus Christ in your plea for help. This is deeply important, for Scripture tells us, "There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and it is in His name that we pray with confidence, knowing He intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25). If you have not yet placed your full trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no greater security or hope than this.
Now, let us speak to the confusion and lack of motivation you are experiencing. The loss of a job can feel like losing a part of your identity, especially when you were once focused and driven. But take heart, for God’s Word reminds us, "Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isaiah 41:10). This season does not define you—your identity is in Christ. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and God has a plan for you, even in this (Jeremiah 29:11). The fact that you are struggling to form sentences or think clearly may feel overwhelming, but we encourage you to lean on the Lord in this. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We also want to encourage you to guard your mind during this time. The enemy would love to fill your thoughts with lies—that you are worthless, that you will never recover, or that God has abandoned you. But these are not from the Lord. Instead, meditate on what is true: "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things" (Philippians 4:8). Replace the confusion with Scripture. Speak God’s promises over yourself daily. Even if you don’t feel it, declare that God is your strength and your shield (Psalm 28:7).
As for practical steps, we urge you to seek godly counsel and community. You do not have to walk through this alone. The body of Christ is here to support you (Galatians 6:2). If there are trusted believers in your life, reach out to them. If you are not already part of a Bible-believing church, we strongly encourage you to find one where you can be nourished in the Word and surrounded by brothers and sisters who will pray for you and walk with you. Additionally, if the confusion persists, it may be wise to seek medical or professional counsel to rule out any physical or mental health concerns. God often uses doctors and wise counselors as part of His provision for us.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is feeling lost, confused, and overwhelmed. Lord, we ask that You would be his peace in this storm. You are the God who brings order out of chaos, and we pray that You would quiet his mind and renew his strength. Father, if there is any spiritual attack against him, we rebuke it now in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that Your light will expose and dispel any darkness trying to take hold.
Lord, we ask that You would restore his clarity of thought and his motivation. Help him to see this season not as an end, but as a time of refinement and preparation for what You have ahead. Provide for his needs, Father—financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Open doors for employment that align with Your will, and give him wisdom to recognize Your leading. Surround him with Your people who will encourage him and point him to You.
We pray that You would fill him with Your Holy Spirit, reminding him of Your promises and giving him the strength to stand firm. Let him know, deep in his soul, that he is not forgotten, that he is loved by You, and that You have a hope and a future for him. Break every chain of fear, confusion, and despair, and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Father, if there is any area of his life that is not aligned with Your Word, we ask that You would convict him gently and lead him to repentance. Draw him closer to You in this time. Let him seek Your face above all else, knowing that when he seeks You first, all these things will be added to him (Matthew 6:33).
We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. We trust that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28), and we wait expectantly for Your deliverance. In the powerful and holy name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Beloved, hold fast to the Lord. This season will not last forever, but His Word will. Cling to Him, and He will carry you through. We are standing with you in prayer, and we trust that God will move mightily in your life. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He will not fail you.
