We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up the souls of Bishop ### and Bishop ###, asking for His mercy and grace to surround them. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:27, *"It is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment."* We trust in the promise of Christ, who said in John 11:25-26, *"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die."* We pray that these faithful servants have found eternal rest in the presence of our Savior.
Father God, we ask You to comfort the families, friends, and congregations who mourn the loss of these bishops. May they find peace in the hope of the resurrection and the assurance that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). We pray for their souls, that You would grant them eternal repose and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in the arms of Jesus, where there is no more pain, sorrow, or death (Revelation 21:4).
We also take this moment to reflect on the brevity of life and the importance of living for Christ. As it is written in Psalm 90:12, *"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."* Let us not take our time on earth for granted but use it to serve You faithfully, just as these bishops did. May their legacy inspire us to walk more closely with You and to share the gospel with urgency and love.
Lord, we rebuke any fear or doubt that may arise in the hearts of those who grieve. We declare that You are the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) and that Your love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Strengthen the faith of those who mourn, reminding them that death is not the end for those who are in Christ. We pray that You would draw near to the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).
We also lift up any who may be reading this and do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The Bible is clear that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not placed your faith in Jesus Christ, we urge you to turn to Him today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive the gift of eternal life (Romans 10:9-10). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we can have peace with God and the hope of heaven.
Heavenly Father, we commit the souls of Bishop ### and Bishop ### into Your loving hands. May they rest in Your eternal presence, and may their lives continue to bear fruit in the lives of those they touched. Comfort their loved ones, strengthen their faith, and use this time of mourning to draw many closer to You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
