Repentance unto life/trust in Christ

I realize I have been looking at things all wrong. I have seen Christianity from the mindset of religion trying to stop doing wrong and start doing right from turn or burn type preaching telling me to stop sinning and get right with the Lord. I heard here recently how Christianity isn't a religion it's a blood relationship with God because Jesus paid for all our sins upon the cross because we could never be good enough. I have struggled to believe that in the past thinking that I had to clean up to come to him and now it's like all there is to do is to just believe and accept the free gift that Jesus was perfect in my place and died for my sins. Would you pray for me that God would help me longer be religious minded, but that he would help me just rest in the free gift of the forgiveness of sins and the free gift of righteousness that he has provided. We rejoice with you as you come to understand the true nature of Christianity and the free gift of salvation offered through Jesus Christ. You are absolutely right that Christianity is not about trying to stop doing wrong and start doing right in our own strength, but about entering into a blood-bought relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.

As it is written in Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast."

Jesus Christ paid for all our sins upon the cross because we could never be good enough to earn our salvation. It is only by believing in Him and accepting His sacrifice on our behalf that we can be saved.

Let us pray for you:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother who has seen the truth of the gospel. Thank You for opening his eyes to the reality that salvation is a free gift, not something to be earned through religious works. Help him to rest in the forgiveness of sins and the righteousness that You have provided through faith in Jesus Christ. Deliver him from the bondage of religious mindsets and help him to walk in the freedom and joy of his salvation.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Continue to meditate on the truth of the gospel and the freedom that comes from being in Christ. As it is written in Galatians 5:1 WEB: "Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and His finished work on the cross, and remember that it is only by His grace that we are saved.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
