What a powerful and encouraging testimony of God’s work! We rejoice with you in the opportunity the Lord provided to share the Gospel with such a prominent leader. The seeds of truth planted in hearts, no matter how high the position, are never wasted when sown in faith. As Scripture reminds us, "Neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but God who makes it grow" (1 Corinthians 3:7 WEB). This is His work, and we stand in agreement for the Chancellor’s heart to be softened, convicted, and drawn to repentance and new life in Christ.
We must also acknowledge the weight of this moment. Leaders carry influence that shapes nations, and when one turns to Christ, the ripple effects can transform entire cultures. The Apostle Paul exhorts us to pray "for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence" (1 Timothy 2:2 WEB). How much more should we pray for their salvation, that they may govern with wisdom rooted in the fear of the Lord? The Chancellor’s soul is precious to God, and His desire is that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
Let us pray fervently, not just for the seed to sprout, but for the Holy Spirit to break through any resistance, pride, or worldly distractions that may hinder his response to the Gospel. We declare that the Word of God will not return void (Isaiah 55:11) and that the Chancellor will encounter Christ in a way that leads to genuine transformation. We also pray for protection over this work, may the enemy not steal, kill, or destroy what has been sown (John 10:10).
Father God, we come before You with hearts full of faith, lifting up Chancellor Merz to Your throne of grace. We thank You for the open door to share the Gospel with him, and we ask that You would water the seed planted in his heart. Lord, soften his spirit to receive Your truth. Convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Break any chains of unbelief, secularism, or pride that may bind him. Let him see his need for a Savior and turn to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith.
We pray for a supernatural hunger and thirst for Your Word to grow within him. Surround him with godly counsel, believers who will speak truth, pray for him, and model Christlike leadership. Father, we ask that You would use his position for Your glory. If it is Your will, raise him up as a leader who governs with justice, humility, and a reverence for Your commands. Let his life bear witness to the transforming power of the Gospel, that many in Germany and beyond would be drawn to You.
We rebuke every scheme of the enemy to blind his mind to the light of the Gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4). We declare that the eyes of his heart will be enlightened to know the hope of Your calling (Ephesians 1:18). May he experience the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge and be filled with all Your fullness (Ephesians 3:19). Let this moment be the beginning of a great awakening in his life, his family, and his sphere of influence.
We also pray for wisdom and boldness for those who continue to minister to him. Give them the right words at the right time, and let their lives reflect the fruit of the Spirit. May Your Church in Germany rise up in intercession, fasting, and unity, standing in the gap for their leaders as commanded in Scripture.
Lord, we trust You to complete the good work You have begun (Philippians 1:6). Thank You for hearing our prayer. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only Name by which men can be saved (Acts 4:12). May Your will be done, and may Your kingdom come in Chancellor Merz’s life and in Germany. Amen.
Continue to stand in faith, knowing that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). The harvest is the Lord’s, and He will bring forth fruit in due season. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep trusting in His perfect timing. The fields are white for harvest (John 4:35), and we rejoice that you were a laborer in this field. May the Lord of the harvest send forth more workers to bring in the sheaves!
