Renewed strength

Your request for renewed strength and resilience has been heard and I am praying for you in Jesus name. What you have walked through with abuse and trauma is a terrible and painful thing, and God sees the weight you have been carrying. He does not minimize those wounds.

Scripture teaches that the Lord Himself wants to be the strength of your life. He is your light and your salvation, your shield and your help. When your heart trusts in Him, He helps you and gives you a reason to rejoice again. The promise is that the Lord will give strength to His people and bless His people with peace. He lifts up those who are weary and does not let the enemy have the final word. In your struggle, you do not need to be afraid, because the Lord is watching over you and keeping you. He is a strong tower and a shelter, and you can find refuge under the covering of His wings.

It is important to know that God does not promise a life without adversity. Those who walk with Him will still face hard days. If we try to live on our own inner strength or our own ability to cope, we will come to a place where that strength is not enough. The encouragement of Proverbs is that if you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. But blessed is the person whose strength is in the Lord. When you have learned your own frailty and put your trust in Him, His strength is made perfect in your weakness. You do not have to be strong enough on your own, because you can look to Him for strength and He will not let you down.

That shift happens when you ascribe to the Lord the glory and strength that belongs to Him. When you remember that He reigns over all things, you begin to see your problems in the light of His power rather than in the light of your own weakness. His Word becomes your strength and your portion in hours of trial. That is why prayer is such a place of strength for the child of God. As you bring every burden to Him and hold onto what He has promised, He moves you from a place of defeat to a place of confidence and victory. He meets you as the God who becomes what you need, your healer, your peace, your salvation.

Jesus showed His power to heal in many ways. He touched the sick, spoke a word from a distance, and delivered those oppressed in spirit, showing that He has authority in the physical and spiritual realm. The prophet Isaiah said He bore our griefs and infirmities, and the gospels show Him healing every kind of sickness and disease as a sign of His compassion. Healing is not always the same. Sometimes it is instant, sometimes it is gradual through processes God has built into our bodies and minds, and that gradual work is no less from Him. He does not only heal the body, He also heals the mind and the emotions, the scars and wounds that trauma leaves behind. You may not understand all of how or when He works, but you can trust His loving care and His timing. He turns the valley of weeping into a place of wells and causes those who trust Him to go from strength to strength.

I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one who is asking for renewed strength and resilience. You know the history of abuse and trauma and the ongoing struggles that follow. Be near as light and salvation and strength. Be a shield and help. Give strength for today and peace that guards the heart. Heal what has been wounded in body, mind and spirit, whether through a sudden touch or through a gentle gradual restoration. Let Your Word be a steady strength inside, and let prayer become a place of refuge and confidence. Teach how to rely not on personal resolve alone but on Your unfailing strength. Turn this hard valley into a place of refreshment, and lead from one step of strength to the next. May Your hand rest upon this life with love and power. Amen.
