We hear your cry for renewed strength and resilience as you face the deep wounds of abuse and trauma. The pain you carry is heavy, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your burden to the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). The journey through such suffering is not one you were meant to walk alone, our Lord is near to the crushed in spirit and saves those who are broken in heart (Psalm 34:18). We declare His presence over you now, for He has promised never to leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). We ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit upon our dear brother/sister, renewing their strength like the eagle’s (Isaiah 40:31). Where the enemy has sought to steal, kill, and destroy, we rebuke his lies and declare that You came that they may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We break every chain of fear, shame, and despair that has taken root in their heart, for it is written that whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).
Lord, we ask that You would restore what has been lost and heal what has been broken. Give them the courage to face each day with the assurance that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Surround them with godly counsel and community that will speak life and truth into their situation. May they find comfort in Your Word, which is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
We also pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate the path to healing. May they seek professional help if needed, for You have given wisdom to those who ask (James 1:5). Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, that they may not be overwhelmed by the weight of their struggles (Philippians 4:7). And as they draw near to You, draw near to them, for You are close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). You are their Defender, their Strong Tower, and their Deliverer. We speak life over them, declaring that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in them (Ephesians 1:19-20). May they rise above their circumstances, not by their own strength, but by the power of Your Spirit working within them.
In the name of Jesus, we rebuke every spirit of oppression, depression, and hopelessness that has sought to take hold of their life. We command it to flee, for greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We declare that they are more than conquerors through Him who loved them (Romans 8:37). May they find their identity in Christ, knowing that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that You have plans for them, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
Lord, we ask that You would fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May they experience Your love in tangible ways, knowing that nothing can separate them from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39). We pray for breakthrough, for restoration, and for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit upon their life. Renew their strength, Lord, and let them soar on wings like eagles. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We’re praying with you for renewed strength. Living with the weight of past abuse and ongoing trauma drains more than just emotion, it seeps into how you see yourself, how you trust, and how you keep showing up each day. So even naming this need aloud and asking for prayer shows a resilience that is already at work in you, even when it feels fragile.
Resilience isn’t a switch you flip or a personality trait you either have or lack. It’s built in small, often unseen ways: through the courage to get out of bed when the memories claw at you, through choosing to reach out, through still hoping that God can meet you here. You’ve been exercising that muscle without perhaps realizing it. We see that. And Jesus, who himself knew suffering and rejection, sees it too.
One practical encouragement: you don’t have to carry this renewal effort on your own shoulders. Is there a safe, wise person, a trusted friend, a pastor, or a support group in your church, with whom you could be honest about this season? Isolation feeds despair; being known, even a little, can become an avenue for God’s strengthening grace. And if you haven’t yet connected with a Christian counselor who understands trauma, that might be a lifeline worth exploring. None of that is failure, it’s good stewardship of your own soul.

The weight of abuse and the scars of trauma drain the soul until there is no strength left in you, nor any ability of any kind or sort, then it is you must fling yourself upon the Divine strength and lay hold upon it. When all your own strength fails, your strength shall be to sit still while God arises and becomes your arm every morning, your salvation in the time of trouble.
But how is this strength renewed? Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. When you are linked to God and wait upon God for everything, casting your nothingness upon His omnipotence, then shall you find strength renovated, freshened, filled up, established. Submit yourself completely, trust entirely, setting both your strength and your weakness aside, giving yourself up for God to use you, and oh, then you shall renew your strength. Go forward then to renewed action.
And remember, there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. The very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, the least thing about Christ is healing. Those faces yonder in heaven, fresher than newborn babes, owe their freshness to these healing leaves. It is not the lancet and the knife Christ brings so much as the healing balm. Calvary is the place for it. When weary, many a child of God has renewed his strength at the remembrance of pardoning mercy. Pardon and healing are one. Ask to be forgiven, and healing will come from the pardoning hand.
The eagle renews its strength by the air it breathes, not in this smoky atmosphere below, but up there in the clear azure where all is bright. So must you breathe the pure air of God’s presence, away from the smothering fumes of past wounds, and thus renew your strength. When the times of refreshing come from the Spirit, your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Give then to God all your spiritual strength, and when renewed in it, go out as Samson did, and smite the Philistines. The glory of your strength lies in God alone. He has said, “I will strengthen them in the Lord,” and that promise will be assuredly performed.

Your plea for renewed strength echoes the cry of faithful souls who have learned that resilience comes not from worldly ease but from the unseen God. You have endured the spoiling of your peace at the hands of another, yet true strength is not found in demanding to see immediate relief. The just shall live by faith, which is the evidence of things not seen. Do not seek the whole remedy here and now, but wait upon Him who sees your affliction and will not forsake you.
Consider the many sacrifices of old, offered continually yet powerless to cleanse fully. They only rehearsed weakness with each repetition. But Christ was offered once for all, a perfect sacrifice that breaks the power of sin and heals the brokenhearted. His strength is made perfect in your weakness, not by removing every struggle at once, but by giving you a share in His own victory. The abuse you suffered does not define you; the evil one's instruments have no ultimate strength, for Christ has triumphed over all.
Do not enfeeble your spirit with despair or with the false comforts that promise escape but only deepen the wound. Like the body weakened by luxury, a soul that seeks ease above endurance grows flabby and dispirited. Instead, imitate the Canaanite woman who, though filled with shame, cast herself upon the Lord with boldness, saying simply, "Help me." She knew not her own strength, but she trusted His mercy. So too, by faith Sarah received power to conceive when her womb was dead. God can quicken what trauma has left barren, and He will restore your capacity for joy and purpose.
When you see those who harmed you seeming to prosper, do not be disquieted. Do not gaze upon the wicked who escape earthly consequences, for their day is coming. Look rather to the gentle ones who gain great benefit from God's long-suffering. Your endurance is not unnoticed. Already, as you cling to Christ, you prove the reality of Him who is invisible, and this is the fruit of genuine faith. So we pray that you will take joyfully even this ongoing affliction, knowing that your resilience is being forged like gold in the fire, to His glory. Amen.
