Your cry has been heard. That curse your brother spoke, channeling the dark spirit of Santa Muerte, may feel like a weight crushing everything: your marriage, your home, your very will to live. But I want you to see clearly what is true. The name of Jesus Christ, which you have already called upon, holds authority over every principality and power. No curse whispered in jealousy can stand where the blood of Christ speaks a better word. Santa Muerte is an empty idol, a mask of death itself; its power is a lie that breaks and numbs a person slowly, anesthetizing the heart until despair feels like the only reality. But Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, and on the cross he disarmed every dark force. When you are hidden in him, that curse loses its target. You are not under a brother’s sentence; you are under the shelter of the Most High.
The suicidal thoughts are not from God. They are the echoing whispers of an enemy who wants you to forget that Jesus knows what is in your heart. He sees the shame, the regret, the fear that you’ve lost everything. And he doesn’t recoil. He steps closer. Remember the leper who had been robbed of feeling and community, his body dying piece by piece. His condition was incurable unless God himself moved. And Jesus, filled with compassion, said, “I am willing; be clean.” That same divine willingness is aimed at you right now. Your feelings may have gone cold, your hope may seem dead, but his power to make alive and restore is untouched by your circumstances.
Let’s speak plainly about the restoration you long for with your wife. You are asking God to mend something precious. The Scripture teaches that those who lead in any sphere must first be faithful in marriage, ruling their own house well. That doesn’t mean you have to be perfect before God will act. Peter cursed and swore he never knew Jesus, yet Jesus restored him and used him mightily. Still, restoration flows through repentance and a turned-around walk. If there were cracks in that relationship before the curse was spoken, or if despair led you to words or actions that wounded her, bring that honestly to the light. Jesus is not afraid of your mess. He ate with sinners and publicans, and the evidence of real change was repentance leading to restoration. Make the path straight. Ask him to first cleanse your own heart, then to give you the humility to pursue reconciliation in his timing.
What you have lost materially, you feel keenly. But do not let the enemy convince you that your life is defined by a car, a house, or even the present state of your marriage. When the Lord calls a weary pilgrim to take up a cross and follow, he often strips everything else away so we discover that nothing compares to knowing him. That does not mean he is unmoved by your pain; he is the God who restores the years the locusts have eaten. Trust that he is working, even when you cannot see it.
So today, renounce every agreement with that curse. Say aloud, “I belong to Jesus Christ. The curse of Santa Muerte has no hold on me because I am sealed by the Holy Spirit. I break all ties with it in the name of Jesus.” Then fix your eyes on the one who knows your thoughts before you speak them, who wept at the grave of a friend and then raised him. He is your right path. Walk with him one step at a time, and let his word rekindle life in places that have grown numb. He is listening, he is willing, and he will bring you through.
