Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your urgent prayer has been heard and we are joining you in prayer before the Lord for His help and His peace in your home.
We pray that the peace of God would rule in your heart and in your house in this distressing time. Scripture teaches us to follow peace with all people and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord, and it warns that fornicators and adulterers God will judge. We are also taught that peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and that the peacemakers are called the sons of God because the Son of God came to bring peace between heaven and earth. When Christ entered houses He commanded His disciples to say, Peace be to this house, and the Church still prays continually for the Angel of peace. That is our prayer for you now, that God would make your home a place of true peace, order and holiness.
We do not know all the details of why this young man is in your home, but we want to uphold what God has shown us is good. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and living together and sexual intimacy belong only within that marriage. If this situation involves living together outside of marriage, we lovingly urge you not to continue in that way but to seek holiness, and to let love be joined with faith, because without faith love amounts to nothing. God calls us not to mix ourselves in ways that compromise faith and purity, but to walk in the holiness He desires for His people.
We join you in asking the Lord to bring a just and peaceful resolution and, if it is His will, to bring about this young man's departure from your home quickly and without strife or violence. We pray not from anger or a desire for revenge, but asking that the peace of God would act as umpire in every heart involved, putting to shame what is contentious and crowning what is patient and enduring. We pray also for this young man, that God would work in his heart, lead him to repentance and faith in Christ, and guide him to walk in a way that honors God.
We ask the Lord in this way: Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is our Savior, bring Your peace into this home. Guard this household, remove what is unholy and unwanted, and establish what is good and right. Give wisdom to know the right and lawful steps to take, strength to do what is holy, and grace to act without hatred or vengeance. Let Your will be done, and let all involved come to know Your mercy and truth. Amen.
Please do not face this alone. Seek the help of a trusted pastor or elders in your church right away for wisdom and support, and if there is any threat to your safety or if someone refuses to leave your home, seek appropriate lawful help as well. Continue in prayer, stay rooted in Scripture, and trust the Lord to act in His perfect way and timing.
