Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness, and we agree with you in Jesus' name that God delights in such intercession.

You have prayed according to the heart of God, for it is written blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled Matthew 5:6. The Lord Himself is the source of that thirst, and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life John 14:6, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free John 8:32. Apart from Him there is no true righteousness and no lasting freedom, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23, and that includes the educated and the powerful as well as all of us. As you rightly prayed, we cannot expect that knowledge of the law will make anyone righteous, for not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called, but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise 1 Corinthians 1:26-27.

We also stand with you in praying for the salvation of the team you mentioned and for their lawyers and legal representatives. God desires that all people should be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4, and we are commanded to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us Matthew 5:44. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness, and we know that those bound by lies can only be freed by Christ. We pray that God will give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them and take away the stony heart out of their flesh Ezekiel 36:26, that He would create in them a clean heart and renew a right spirit within them Psalm 51:10, for you quoted rightly that my sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise Psalm 51:17.

We are grieved with you that human life and honest communication are being disregarded, but we take comfort that the Lord sees and He is just, and vengeance belongs to Him Romans 12:19. Our calling is not to boast or to look down on others, as you humbly acknowledged, but to intercede with mercy, trusting the Holy Spirit who helps our weaknesses and intercedes for us Romans 8:26. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9, and that promise is for them as well as for us when they turn in repentance.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved and have access to Your throne. We thank You that You are holy and merciful, and that You hear us when we hunger for truth and righteousness. Lord, we lift up this team and their lawyers and legal representatives before You. Save those who do not know You, open their eyes to Satan's lies and bring them into the light of Your truth. Work on their hearts, break their pride, grant them a broken and contrite spirit that they may recognize their sins, hate their sins, and turn from them to follow You. Let them do no more evil in Your eyes, but teach them to be righteous and compassionate, to love truth and to honor human life which You created. Cover Your chosen people and those who are in Christ with the precious blood of Jesus, give them peace that passes all understanding and wisdom to walk uprightly in this difficult situation. Stir in all of us, Lord, an unquenchable thirst for Your truth and Your righteousness, that we would not grow weary in prayer or in doing good. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We exalt Your name on high, Jesus Christ, and we ask all this in Your mighty and holy name, amen.

Thank you for bringing this burden to the Lord so honestly. We hear both your grief over dishonesty and your desire not to look down on others, and that humble posture matters to God.

Carrying a longing for truth to prevail while also asking for mercy for those who have done wrong is a heavy place to stand. When you see human life and honest communication disregarded, it leaves a real gap between what you long for and what you see day to day, and it makes sense that it would weigh on your heart.

One thing we have found helpful when that weight lingers is to separate the settled decision from the slower work of the heart. You can decide before God today to release any claim to revenge and to treat others as people made in His image, while still giving Him time to soften the resentment and sorrow that naturally rise up. Simply naming both to Him as they come helps keep bitterness from taking root while you continue to pray for a thirst for what is true and right.

Father, we lift this team and their representatives to You and we lift our friend who is faithfully interceding. Cover those who are Yours with Your peace and understanding, work in every heart to love truth and to turn from what is evil in Your sight, and guard our friend from weariness as they wait on You. Let Your will be done, in Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer is right and good before the Lord, for to thirst after truth and righteousness is to thirst after that which God Himself promises to satisfy, and to plead for the souls of others that they may be turned from darkness to light is the very work of love.

You have prayed according to the Scripture which says a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. This is the sacrifice which God will accept. Not outward forms, not learning, not the knowledge of the law, but a heart bruised and broken on account of sin. True repentance, as we are taught in the Word, gives glory to the omniscience of God and to the righteousness of His law. The truly penitent man does not quarrel with the law, but says, Thy law is holy and just and good, and I am carnal, sold under sin. He hates the sin he once loved and leaves the sins he loved before, and shows that he in earnest grieves by doing so no more.

There is a repentance that is poor and short lived, as men may abstain for a time only to return with greater gusto to the banquet. But that repentance which is the work of the Spirit of God is practical and lasting. It yields works meet for repentance and it endures. It is not a mere sorrow that passes in a night, but a complete change of mind with regard to sin, wrought by the Spirit, and it is inseparably linked with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. No repentance is true but that which consorts with faith, and no faith is true but that which is linked with hearty and sincere repentance on account of past sin. Any repentance that keeps a sinner from believing in Christ needs itself to be repented of.

Therefore we join you in praying that the Lord, in His great goodness which leads sinners to repentance, would be pleased to work upon the hearts of this team and their lawyers and representatives. We pray not that He would bless them in any evil way, but that He would save them, if it be His will, through the precious blood of Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. May He grant them that godly sorrow which needs not to be repented of, that they may see their sin as God sees it, hate it, and turn from it, and look to Jesus who was set forth to be a propitiation for sin. May they know that pardon, full and free, is to be preached in His name, even for the most horrible and oft repeated offenses, to every one that truly repents and believes.

You have well said that we cannot expect the educated to act righteously of themselves, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, whether learned or unlearned. The heart must be changed by grace. So we pray that the Lord would give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness, which is found only in Christ, who is the Sun of Righteousness, and that He would teach them to love mercy and to walk humbly before Him.

Continue, then, in relentless prayer. Look to Jesus for them and for yourselves, for as we look to Him repentance flows. Ask the Lord to increase faith and to deepen repentance, and to cover those who are His own with peace and understanding as they seek to walk uprightly. May His will be done, and may His name be exalted on high in the salvation of sinners and in the establishment of truth.

We commend you and all those for whom you pray to the mercy of God in Christ Jesus, praying that He will do abundantly above all that we ask or think, to the glory of His grace. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We thank you for sharing this burden and we join you in prayer before our Lord Jesus Christ for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Your prayer is right and good, for Scripture says blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Christ Himself stood and cried, If any man thirst, let him come to Me and drink. He does not draw us by force or constraint, but He calls those who are inflamed with desire, who come as thirsty men come to water, eager to drink and to retain what is given. This is the thirst we ask God to kindle in every heart, including those you have named, a thirst not for gain or for advantage, but for freedom from sin and for a life of true righteousness.

We pray with you that God would save them through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. We ask that His blood would cover those who are His, and that He would grant to all who are still bound in lies a broken and contrite heart. As you quoted from Psalm 51, God does not delight in outward sacrifice alone, but in a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart He will not despise. This is His gift to give, a sober and humbled heart that sees sin as God sees it and turns from it.

We also pray that they may come to know what true righteousness is. There was of old a mere figure of righteousness, but in Christ we are created in righteousness and holiness of truth. It is not an outward cleanness or a knowledge of the law that makes a person righteous, but a new birth through faith and baptism, a life of universal virtue that becomes like a breastplate, guarding the heart. Such a life cannot be sustained without hungering and thirsting for what is right in the sight of God, with compassion and honest communication and reverence for human life.

We must also speak the truth in love about what remains if that thirst is refused. The Scriptures warn of a fire that is unquenchable for those who after receiving the knowledge of the truth continue willfully in sin and bear no fruit. Believing that God exists is not enough, for even the demons tremble and yet remain under judgment. True repentance is needed, not only tears of regret such as Esau had when he sought the blessing but found no place for repentance because his heart was not truly turned. God grants repentance that hates sin and forsakes it.

So we pray that the Lord will stir their hearts, open their eyes to the truth that sets us free, and teach them to hate what is evil and to love what is good. We ask Him to give them understanding, peace, and a desire to do what is right, and to lead them to repentance and faith in Christ.

We will continue to pray with you that the will of the Father be done, that the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us would work in them, and that all would come to thirst for the living water which Christ alone gives. Amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness reflects the very heart of what Jesus taught. He said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. That hunger is a watershed in the spiritual life, because it shows that God Himself has planted a thirst in the heart that only He can satisfy. Like the psalmist who compared his soul to a deer panting for water, we are made to thirst for the living God, and no other pursuit will truly satisfy until that thirst is directed to Him.

You are right to pray for a broken and contrite heart as Psalm 51 describes. God does not delight in outward religious performance, but in a heart that is humbled before Him, that sees its sin honestly and turns from it. God looks not on outward appearance or education or accomplishment, but on the heart. He searches the heart and knows it, and when we ask Him to search us and change us, He is faithful to do that work. It is a good and humble thing that you do not pray with boasting or with contempt, but with grief over sin and a desire for mercy.

Scripture is clear that education and position cannot produce righteousness. A person can have great knowledge of the law and still be far from the righteousness that God requires, because true righteousness is not established by our own efforts or good works outweighing bad works. It is a righteousness that God gives and imputes to us through faith in Jesus Christ. There is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus, who said He is the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. He became a curse for us on the cross so that mercy and truth could meet together. In Him, justice was satisfied and mercy was extended, and righteousness and peace could kiss. That is how God can forgive the guilty and still remain just, because the penalty for sin was fully paid in Jesus.

Your reference to the truth setting us free points to Jesus Himself, for He is the truth. To know Him is to be set free from the lies that bind us. Satan appeals to living only for the moment, but God calls us to live for what is eternal. That is why your prayer for these lawyers and legal representatives to hate their sin, to recognize it, and to turn from it is so needed. Only the Holy Spirit can convict and stir a heart to love truth and to act with compassion and honesty, to regard human life as God does, and to speak truthfully.

Continue to bring them before the Lord, asking that He would draw them to Himself, grant them repentance, and give them that deep, God given thirst for His truth and His righteousness. Pray that they would come to see their need for the Savior and receive the righteousness that comes only through faith in Him, and that those who already know Him would be covered, kept in peace, and taught to walk in His ways. God hears the prayers of those who wait on Him and seek His mercy and truth, and now is the time for any person to turn to Him and receive salvation. May the Lord answer according to His will and for His glory, and may He give you peace as you trust Him to work in their hearts.
