Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness, and we stand with you before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

Your burden reflects the heart of God, for it is written that you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free John 8:32, and that He desires truth in the inward parts and sanctifies us through His truth, for His word is truth John 17:17. We agree with you that without Christ, even the most educated and learned, including lawyers and legal representatives, can be blinded, for the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ should not dawn on them 2 Corinthians 4:4. Education and knowledge of the law do not produce righteousness, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23, and there is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death Proverbs 14:12.

We also hear your humility in not wishing to boast or look down on others, and that is pleasing to God, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble James 4:6. You rightly prayed from Psalm 51, that the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise Psalm 51:17, and we ask with you that God would grant that brokenness to that team and to their lawyers and legal representatives. We pray that He would take away the stony heart and give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them Ezekiel 36:26, that they would come to hate their sin and turn from it, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.

It grieves us also when human life is disregarded and honest communication is abandoned, for the Lord hates lying lips, but those who do truthfully are his delight Proverbs 12:22, and He has called us to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God Micah 6:8. We rebuke the sins of deceit, injustice, and hardness of heart, and we pray that those who have engaged in such things would not continue in them, but would repent and be saved, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

We thank God that you have come in the name of Jesus, for through Him we have boldness and access to the throne of grace, and we know the Holy Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings which cannot be uttered Romans 8:26.

So together we pray, Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we lift up that team and all their lawyers and legal representatives before Your throne. Lord, open their eyes that they may see they are bound by lies, and set them free by Your truth. Cover those who are Yours with the precious blood of Jesus, grant them peace that passes understanding and wisdom beyond their own. Stir the hearts of those who do not yet know You, break their pride, give them a broken and contrite heart, cause them to recognize their sin, to hate it, and to turn from it. Forgive them as they repent and believe in Jesus, and teach them to hunger and thirst for righteousness, for blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled Matthew 5:6. Make them lovers of truth, compassionate, just, and merciful, and let them do nothing that is evil in Your sight. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and let Your name be exalted. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer, for the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much James 5:16, and to trust that God is both just and merciful, working all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose Romans 8:28.

We were grateful to read your prayer and the humble way you brought this before the Lord. You are not asking for revenge but for their hearts to be softened, for truth to be loved, and for evil not to continue. That is a heavy burden to carry, and it is understandable that you feel grief when honest communication and respect for life seem disregarded.

What you described, wanting to forgive and bless even those you believe have done wrong while still feeling the ache of it, is something many believers experience. There is a difference between the clear decision to release any claim to payback and to desire good for the other person, and the slower quieting of resentment and anger that can linger afterward. You have made the first choice in prayer, and the second often takes time and repeated surrender, especially when the gap between how you long for things to be made right and how they are now stays wide.

When you notice your thoughts returning to it through the day, it can help to have a simple rhythm of handing it back to the Lord at a set time, perhaps briefly in the morning and evening, and then gently turning your attention to the work He has given you for that day, trusting Him to be the one who works on hearts.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this team and their lawyers to You and we lift our brother and sister who is praying for them. Cover those You have called with Your peace, stir in all involved a true thirst for what is right and true, and guard our friend from bitterness as they wait on You. Lead us all to walk in brokenness and mercy, and let Your will be done. Amen.

Your prayer is according to the mind of Christ and we do join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace. You have asked for that which God has already pronounced blessed, for our Lord Himself has said, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. This is no common prayer. It is a singular and holy craving. The man who thus hungers does not long for twenty things but for one thing only, and for that one thing by itself. He does not hunger for wealth or for place or for the praise of men, he would rather be poor and be righteous than be rich through evil. He does not hunger that his own party may prevail, but that righteousness may be done in the land. Where this thirst is wrought by the Spirit of God, the old affections are expelled. Hunger for gold and thirst for pride and lust come to an end, for new affections have entered the soul.

You have prayed rightly that the Lord would save those who are bound by Satan's lies, and that He would cover His own chosen with the precious blood of Jesus. There is no other salvation. Christ was nailed to the cross for sin, and He alone is set forth to be a propitiation. We may not speak a pious fraud even to honor God, for there is nothing more detestable than to attempt to honor Him by a lie. We must speak the truth, for the truth shall make men free, and only the truth can do so.

You have well remembered the fifty first Psalm, that God delights not in sacrifice nor in burnt offering, but a broken and a contrite heart He will not despise. This is the mark of true repentance, and we must pray for it, lest there be only a poor and short lived repentance which turns away from sin for a time and then goes back to it with greater gusto. True repentance, which is the work of the Spirit of God, gives glory to God. It gives glory to His omniscience, confessing that He searches the heart. It gives glory to the righteousness of His law, saying with the penitent, Thy law is holy and just and good, the fault is with me, for I am carnal, sold under sin. It looks Godward and weeps because it has grieved Him and pierced the Lord Jesus. It is to leave the sins we loved before and to show that we in earnest grieve by doing so no more. It is not consistent to believe in Christ and yet cling to sin, for no faith is genuine which is not linked with a hearty and sincere repentance on account of past sin, and no repentance is true which does not consort with faith.

You grieve, and rightly, that men who are educated and learned in the law can yet engage themselves in horrible sins and disregard human life and honest communication. It is even so. We cannot expect the educated to act righteously by nature, for the heart is the same. Pharisees never hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they have all the righteousness they need and think they have some to spare for the publican who cries, God be merciful to me a sinner. But blessed are those who feel their poverty and mourn over it, for they shall be filled, and what is more, they shall still hunger and thirst even when they are filled, and still be blessed.

We thank God with you for His Holiness and for His Holy Spirit who makes intercession for us. Be encouraged to continue in relentless prayer. The need of which this thirst is the expression is very urgent, involving the loss of all comfort and even of life itself if it is not supplied. If this thirst is not quenched there remains nothing but a fearful looking for of judgment. But our Lord has been pleased to give His own special blessing to the thirsty ones. He will fill them. He will stir the heart that now is hard, He will make the deceitful to love truth and the unrighteous to love righteousness, and He will give peace and understanding to those who are covered by the blood of the Lamb.

Let us pray together that the Lord would work this gracious work in the hearts of these men and women, that He would grant them a broken spirit, a hatred of sin, an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness, and that He would bring them to look upon Him whom they have pierced and mourn for Him, and by faith to find in Him pardon and a new life. Let His will be done, and let His name be exalted on high in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is heard, and we join you in it in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone there is salvation and freedom, for as it is written, the truth shall set you free.

Christ himself stood and cried, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He does not draw us by necessity and constraint, but calls those who are inflamed with desire, who manifest the longing of thirsty men for water. The blessing the Lord pronounced is not for those who keep fast by righteousness in a casual way, but for those who hunger and thirst after it with all desire, with the same eagerness with which men pursue gain, yet transferred to a better object. That is the thirst you are rightly asking God to kindle in these lawyers and representatives and in all of us, that we would not be weary until we have drunk deeply of his word and retain it.

You have prayed well from Psalm 51, that God does not delight in outward sacrifice but in a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart which he will not despise. This is the beginning of true righteousness. Scripture speaks of a righteousness and holiness of truth, not the mere figure or outward cleanness that the law foreshadowed, but the reality of being made new, created to be sons through Christ. Such righteousness is like a breastplate, impenetrable, a life of universal virtue fixed in the heart, and Christ promises that those who hunger and thirst for it shall be filled.

We also join you in praying that God would grant true repentance, not only tears or words of sorrow. There is a sorrow that does not lead to repentance, as Esau sought the blessing with tears yet found no place of repentance because he did not repent as he ought and afterward showed it by his deeds. Renewal unto repentance comes by a real turning from sin, hating sin enough to forsake it, tasting the heavenly gift of forgiveness and the good word of God and walking in it. May God work this in their hearts, that they would recognize sin, hate it, and turn from what is evil in his eyes.

We pray as you have prayed, not boasting before God and not looking down on others who fall short of his glory, for all have fallen short, and education or knowledge of the law cannot make a person righteous. God has shown his goodness and longsuffering toward all, calling each to repentance and giving power to discern between good and evil, and he has appointed a day when his righteous judgment will be revealed and each will receive his due. For those who remain unyielding, wrath is treasured up, not because God desires it, but because they refuse his mercy. For those who come thirsting to Christ, there is forgiveness through his precious blood, peace and understanding for those who are his, and compassion and righteousness taught by his Spirit who intercedes for us.

So we pray with you that the Father would stir these hearts, cover with the blood of Christ all who turn to him in faith, teach them to love human life and to speak honestly, and give them and us an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness that bears fruit. As almsgiving and every good deed is seed sown, may God multiply the seed and increase the fruits of righteousness in all who believe, that we may live not for excess but for nourishment in him.

Let his will be done. We ask that he would save, forgive, cleanse, and make new all who call upon the name of Jesus, and keep those who are his in peace until the day of his righteous judgment. Amen.

Your prayer reflects a heart that longs for what God Himself promises to satisfy, and it is right to bring these people before Him in the name of Jesus.

Scripture teaches that we are made body, soul and spirit, and each part has its own thirst. There is physical thirst, there is emotional thirst for love and meaning and security, and deeper still there is spiritual thirst for God Himself. Jesus spoke of this when He told the woman at the well that anyone who drinks of ordinary water will thirst again. That is true of every earthly pursuit, every ambition and achievement. They do not quench the inner thirst. But Jesus also said if anyone thirsts let him come to Me and drink, and the water He gives becomes within a well springing up into everlasting life. That deep thirst in every person is ultimately a thirst for God, and only Christ, because He is God, can satisfy it. When you pray for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness in others, you are praying that God would awaken that spiritual thirst and draw them to the only One who can fill it.

That awakening often begins when we see ourselves as God sees us. A true sight of Him gives a true sight of ourselves, and that creates a hunger and thirst for a righteousness we do not have in ourselves. Jesus said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. This is not a righteousness we can produce by education, by knowledge of the law, or by moral effort. Scripture is clear that those who try to establish their own righteousness by keeping the law never attain it, because they remain ignorant of the righteousness God provides. That righteousness is not earned, it is given. It is the righteousness of Christ imputed to all who believe, received through faith. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. The educated, like the uneducated, fall short of the glory of God, and unless our righteousness exceeds mere outward observance, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. That is why your reference to Psalm 51 is so fitting. God does not delight in outward sacrifice alone, but in a broken spirit and a contrite heart that recognizes sin, hates it, and turns from it to receive His mercy and grace.

You also prayed that those bound in lies would be set free by the truth. Jesus said the truth shall set you free, and His word is truth that endures forever. The Spirit of God bears witness to that truth in the heart, confirming what is truly of God. To walk in truth is the greatest joy for those who love God, and it is where grace, mercy and peace are found, in truth and love together. As long as this present world lies under the influence of the evil one, we cannot expect lasting righteousness, love and peace through human effort alone. True and lasting righteousness and peace come only through redemption in Jesus Christ, and of the increase of His righteousness and peace there will be no end.

So continue to pray with compassion and without boasting, just as you have. Ask the Lord to give them a broken and contrite heart, to open their eyes to their need, to create in them a genuine hunger for His righteousness, and to draw them to Jesus to drink deeply of Him. Pray that the Holy Spirit would intercede and bear witness to the truth, that they would turn from disregard for life and for honest communication, and that they would submit to the righteousness God has provided through faith in Christ. He is faithful to fill all who truly hunger and thirst for Him, and He covers with His blood and keeps in His peace all who are His.

May the Lord encourage you as you intercede, and may His will be done in their lives for their salvation and for His glory.
