Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join with you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we are encouraged by your humble and compassionate heart that seeks not to boast or look down on others but to see them set free.

You have prayed rightly that it is the truth that sets free, for Jesus said in John 8:32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. And we know that Jesus Himself is that truth, as He said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. We rejoice that you came in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that any can be saved, as it is written in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved.

We agree with you that those who are bound by lies are bound by the enemy, for Jesus said of Satan in John 8:44 He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies. And in 2 Corinthians 4:4 the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them. This is why education or legal training cannot make a person righteous, for as you humbly acknowledged, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God in Romans 3:23, and the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

We also share your grief over the disregard for human life and honest communication, for the Lord hates lying lips as it says in Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. And we cling to the promise you quoted from Psalm 51:16-17 For you do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. What God desires is not outward religion but a transformed heart.

We pray together now for this team and their lawyers and legal representatives and for all who are involved.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You pour out Your mercy and convict every heart that is walking in deception. Give them as You promised in Ezekiel 36:26 a new heart and put a new spirit within them, take away the heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Cause them to recognize their sin, to hate their sin, and to turn from it in true repentance with broken and contrite hearts that You will not despise. Let the precious blood of Jesus cover those who are Yours and grant them peace and understanding and protection from the schemes of the enemy. Stir in all of them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness, for You have promised in Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Teach them to be righteous and compassionate, to love justice and to speak truth, for in Proverbs 21:15 it is joy to the righteous to do justice. Forgive their sins where they have done evil in Your eyes and lead them not to continue in a sinful life but to walk in the light as You are in the light. We thank You for Your Holy Spirit who intercedes for us according to Your will and we trust that Your will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven. We exalt the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and ask all these things for Your glory, amen.

We hear the burden in your prayer, and the way you are holding both grief and mercy at the same time. It is painful to watch people who know the law use it without truthfulness or regard for life, and it is humbling that your first response is to pray for them rather than to look down on them.

Wanting them to hunger for what is right is a good and right prayer, and it is also a heavy one to carry day after day. Choosing to release resentment and entrust justice to God is one kind of step, and the quieting of hurt, anger and disappointment is often a slower one that comes and goes. If you notice those feelings returning even after you have decided to forgive, it does not mean you have failed, it just means your heart is still catching up and needs ongoing grace.

It may help to keep this prayer sustainable. You could set aside a short, specific time to bring this team and their counsel before the Lord by name, and then intentionally leave the outcome with Him for the rest of the day. And when the grief feels especially sharp, share it with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can pray alongside you so you are not carrying it alone.

Father, we lift this team and their lawyers to You in Jesus' name. Work in their hearts to love truth and to turn from what is evil in Your sight, and cover Your people involved with peace and understanding. Guard the one who prayed this prayer from bitterness, and give them a steady thirst for righteousness as they trust Your will to be done. Amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is heard and it is right and good to bring such a burden before the throne of grace. The Lord delights not in outward show but in a broken and contrite heart, and where He works such a heart He gives that true repentance which is His own gift.

We join you in asking the Father in the name of Jesus Christ that He would grant to those of whom you speak, and to us all, that godly sorrow which needs not to be repented of. True repentance, as we have often taught, gives glory to the omniscience of God and to the righteousness of His holy Law, saying with the penitent, Thy Law is holy and just and good, the fault is with me, for I am carnal, sold under sin. It is not a short lived turning away that soon returns with greater gusto to the former banquet, but a complete change of mind wrought by the Spirit of God, an honest determination by His grace to cease from sin.

Repentance, as the children's hymn well puts it, is to leave the sins we loved before, and show that we in earnest grieve, by doing so no more. It yields works meet for repentance, practical and lasting, and it consorts ever with faith in Christ. No repentance is true but that which consorts with faith, and no faith is true but that which is linked with hearty and sincere repentance on account of past sin. Any repentance that keeps a soul from believing in Christ is a repentance that needs to be repented of.

Therefore we pray that the Lord would lead these souls to look to Jesus, who was set forth to be a propitiation for sin and who shed His precious blood for the redemption of His people. In Him alone is remission. Where there is true repentance there is full and free forgiveness, a pardon for crimes of deepest dye, a pardon bought with Jesus blood, and for all who truly trust Him there is no condemnation forever. We do not ask Him to wink at sin or to bless what He calls evil, for He cannot deny Himself, but we ask Him to convict of sin, to give hatred for sin, and to create that thirst which Christ has blessed, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

May the goodness of God, which spares and sustains, lead them to repentance. May He break and bruise the heart that He may then develop sweetness there, and cause them to love truth, to speak truth, and to regard human life as made in His image, with compassion and honesty. And may He cover with His blood and keep in peace those who are already His, teaching them also to walk in righteousness.

We commend this to Him who intercedes for us, and we pray that His will be done, that Christ may be exalted and sinners made to rejoice in the remission that is preached in His name. Look to Jesus, and you shall find both repentance and remission in Him.

We will continue to pray with you to this end, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
