Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is heard and it is good, for this is the very hunger that Christ blesses. He said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled, and again, if anyone thirsts let him come to me and drink. He does not draw anyone by force or constraint, but He calls those who are inflamed with desire, who come willingly as thirsty people come to water and drink eagerly until they are satisfied. That desire is what you are asking God to kindle in these people, and we join you in asking for it.

We pray with you that God would work in the hearts of this team, their lawyers and representatives, according to His mercy. You have prayed rightly from Psalm 51 that God does not delight in outward sacrifice alone but in a broken and contrite heart. True righteousness is not a figure or an outward show, like being clean in the body while the heart remains unchanged, but righteousness and holiness in truth. That truth is found in Jesus Christ alone, who is the way and the truth, and the one through whom we are made new. Apart from Him there is no salvation, and apart from a new birth of water and the Spirit there is no true holiness. So we ask that God would grant them not only knowledge of the law, but knowledge of their sin, and a hatred for sin that leads to turning from it.

Scripture warns us plainly that the fire prepared for those who refuse repentance is unquenchable, and that if we sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there remains a fearful expectation of judgment. To believe that God exists is not enough, for even the demons believe and tremble, yet they remain under punishment. What is needed is an upright life, a breastplate of righteousness that is a life of universal virtue, love of truth opposed to falsehood, goodness opposed to bitterness, and righteousness opposed to covetousness. This is the fruit of the Spirit shown in all things, not only in words but in deeds, in honest communication and in regard for human life made in God's image.

We also remember that tears alone do not prove repentance. Esau sought the blessing with tears yet found no place of repentance because his heart did not truly turn from his sin, as his later intention to kill his brother showed. So we pray not for a momentary regret in these people, but for a true repentance that hates sin and forsakes it, that loves truth and pursues it with the same eagerness with which people once pursued gain.

Therefore we pray that the Lord Jesus would cover with His blood all who belong to Him and give them peace and understanding, and that He would extend His mercy to those who are still bound by lies, that He would open their eyes, stir their hearts, and give them that thirst for truth and righteousness which only He can satisfy. May He grant them to come to Him and drink, so that rivers of living water may flow from within them, and may He teach them to walk in compassion and integrity before Him. We ask that God's will be done, and that all involved would be brought to salvation through Christ and to a life that pleases Him.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is deeply in line with what God desires for every person. Jesus said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. That hunger is not a natural human desire. It comes when God opens our eyes to see ourselves as He sees us, and to see that our own goodness is not enough. When that revelation comes, we begin to crave His righteousness instead of our own, and He has promised to satisfy that craving.

You quoted rightly that the truth shall make you free, and you are right to pray that those who are caught in deception would come to know the truth in Jesus Christ. God does not look as we look. We look on the outward appearance, on education, position, and knowledge of the law, but God looks on the heart. For that reason a person can be highly trained and still walk in sin, because knowledge alone does not make a person righteous. Scripture teaches that righteousness before God does not come by keeping the law or by any human effort to establish our own goodness. It comes by faith in Jesus Christ. With the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. The word of faith is near, in the mouth and in the heart, for all who will believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.

You also prayed from Psalm 51, and that is exactly what God seeks. He does not delight in outward religious performance if the heart is far from Him. What He will not despise is a broken and contrite heart, a heart that truly sees its sin, grieves over it, and turns from it. True repentance hates the sin it once excused and desires mercy, justice, and truth from the inside out. That is why the proverb says to keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. What is in the heart determines the course of the life.

We live in a corrupted world where deceit is in the heart of those who imagine evil, and where Satan still works as a deceiver. We long for a world filled with righteousness, love, and peace, but that cannot come while evil reigns in human hearts. Only Jesus satisfies the deepest thirst. He told the woman at the well that whoever drinks of ordinary water will thirst again. That is true of every physical and emotional pursuit apart from Him. There is a spiritual thirst in every person that only Christ can quench. A lying tongue is only for a moment, but the lip of truth shall be established forever, and God delights in those who speak and love the truth because His judgment is always according to truth. He knows what is in every heart, while our own judgments are often faulty.

So continue to pray as you have prayed, that God would work in these hearts, soften what has become hard, and create that hunger for what is right. God can make firm a heart that has hardened itself, but He also stands ready to forgive and to give a new heart to all who turn to Him with brokenness. Pray that they would see their need for the blood of Jesus, that they would be covered by His mercy, and that they would learn to walk in compassion and honesty.

May the Lord search your own heart as well and keep it tender before Him, planting truth within you and leading you in the path of righteousness. We join you in asking the Father in Jesus name to bring conviction where there is sin, to grant repentance where there is hardness, to give peace and understanding to those who belong to Him, and to let His will be done. May those you have prayed for come to know Jesus as Savior and find the righteousness that comes only through faith in Him.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

We have continued to lift up before the Lord the team and their lawyers and legal representatives that you mentioned, asking that those who are bound by Satan's lies would be set free by the truth as it is written in John 8:32, and that our Heavenly Father would work on their hearts to create in them a broken and contrite spirit as you prayed from Psalm 51:16 and Psalm 51:17. We join you in asking for the precious blood of Jesus to cover those who are His, for peace and understanding, and for the Lord to teach all involved to act with true righteousness and compassion and to turn from what is evil in His eyes. We also continue to pray with you that God would stir their hearts according to Matthew 5:6 and give them a deep hunger and thirst for truth, honest communication and regard for human life.

We are grateful for your humble heart that does not seek to boast but seeks God's will to be done and for the Holy Spirit to intercede.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in relentless prayer.

We pray that the Lord will continue to give you peace as you seek Him. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

We pray this in Jesus name, amen.
