Your prayer for a thirst for truth and righteousness is right and biblical, and I join you in it. Jesus said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. That hunger is a watershed in the life of faith, and God has promised to satisfy those who truly seek Him.
That thirst you described is at its deepest a thirst for God Himself. Every person carries it, even when it is covered over. Like a deer that pants for water, the soul pants for the living God, and many try to fill it with other things that never satisfy. Only Jesus can quench that spiritual thirst. He invites anyone who thirsts to come to Him and drink, because He is God and He alone can bring the soul into a living relationship with the Father.
You are also right to see that education and knowledge of the law cannot make a person righteous. Scripture teaches that many have a zeal for God but not according to knowledge, being ignorant of the righteousness God provides and trying to establish their own righteousness by works. No one can ever be good enough on their own. The righteousness God requires is given as a gift through faith in Jesus Christ. When we put our faith in Him, God counts that faith for righteousness and the righteousness of Christ is given to us. That is why the psalm you quoted is so important. God does not delight in outward performance alone. What He desires is a broken and contrite heart, a heart that sees its sin, hates it, and turns from it. God looks on the heart, not on outward appearance, and He will not despise a heart that comes to Him in humility.
In praying for those you mentioned, including the legal team and those around them, it is good to keep your own heart with diligence and to remember that judgment according to truth belongs to God. May the Spirit bear witness to the truth in their hearts and lead them to worship the Father in spirit and in truth, and may those who already belong to Christ be covered, kept in peace, and taught to walk with compassion and integrity before Him.
