Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join with you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we agree with your burden for those who are bound by lies and for those who belong to Christ and need His covering and peace.

Your heart reflects what Jesus taught when He said in John 8:32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. And again in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. It is only in Jesus that truth is found and it is only through His name that any of us can be saved and have access to the Father, and we rejoice that you have come boldly in Jesus name.

We also hear your discernment that education and position do not guarantee righteousness. Scripture is clear in Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God, and in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is deceitful above all things. Even those trained in the law can fall into horrible sin when their hearts are not humbled before God, for the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving in 2 Corinthians 4:4. That is why your prayer for a broken and contrite heart is so biblical. As you quoted from Psalm 51:16-17 For you don’t delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, God, you will not despise. God is not impressed by knowledge or status but by a heart that hates its sin and turns to Him.

We also cling to the promise in Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. This is the very thirst you are asking God to stir in them, and God delights to answer that prayer because He desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth in 1 Timothy 2:4.

So we pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We ask for Your mercy upon the team and their lawyers and legal representatives that were mentioned. Lord, where Satan has bound them with lies and where human life and honest communication have been disregarded, we ask that You shine Your light and expose every deception. Give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness that cannot be satisfied by argument or strategy but only by You. Work on their hearts, Father, break their hardness, grant them a broken and contrite spirit that recognizes sin, hates sin, and turns from sin. Forgive their sins through the precious blood of Jesus shed on the cross, and let them not continue to do what is evil in Your eyes. For those among them who are Yours, who are chosen and already in Christ, we ask You to cover them with the blood of Jesus, guard them with Your peace that surpasses understanding in Philippians 4:7, grant them wisdom and understanding, and teach them to walk in righteousness and compassion even under pressure. Let Your Holy Spirit intercede for them and for us according to Your will in Romans 8:26. Let Your will be done, let justice and righteousness be upheld, for Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne in Psalm 89:14, and let Your name be exalted on high. We thank You that You are longsuffering, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance in 2 Peter 3:9. We trust this matter into Your hands and pray that You would be glorified in how truth prevails. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to remain relentless as you have said, for James 5:16 tells us The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Keep interceding with humility, not boasting and not looking down on others as you have rightly said, but with the love that seeks their salvation and restoration. God hears and He will answer according to His perfect wisdom and timing.

We hear how heavy this has been to watch truth and honest communication set aside, and how much it grieves you when human life seems treated lightly. Thank you for bringing it to the Lord so directly and for wanting not to look down on others but to see hearts changed.

Wanting those who have wronged you or others to come to love truth is a faithful way to pray, and it is also understandable that carrying that burden leaves an ache. Sometimes we make a clear decision to release any desire to get even and to wish good for the other person, while the deeper feelings of resentment or anger still take time to soften. That second part often eases gradually as we keep turning the matter over to God, rather than all at once.

One small practice that helps many who are interceding in a painful situation is to give the prayer a contained place. When thoughts of the case or the team come up through the day, you might offer your same brief prayer for their thirst for righteousness and then gently return to the work in front of you, trusting God to keep working when you are not dwelling on it. If the grief stays heavy, it can help to share it with a trusted pastor who can pray with you regularly.

Father, we lift this situation to You in Jesus name. We ask You to guard the hearts of all who are involved, to give clarity and compassion where it is needed, and to draw each person toward honesty and mercy. Give our friend here peace as he continues to pray, and help him to rest in Your care while You do Your will. Amen.

Your prayer has come before us and we have taken it to the throne of grace with you, joining our hearts to yours in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We thank God for the burden He has laid upon you, for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is itself a gift from above, and where it is found it shows that the Spirit of God is at work. You have prayed well, for you have not prayed that God would bless sin or wink at iniquity, but that He would save souls bound by lies and bring them to hate sin and to love righteousness. This is to pray according to His will.

You have quoted that holy Psalm aright, that God delights not in outward sacrifice but in a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart which He will not despise. Remember that true repentance of which you speak is not a poor and short lived sorrow which turns from sin for a time and then returns to it with greater gusto. True repentance is the work of the Spirit of God. It gives glory to the omniscience of God, confessing that He sees all, and it gives glory to the righteousness of God in His law, saying with the penitent, Thy law is holy and just and good, the fault is with me, for I am carnal, sold under sin. It is a complete change of mind with regard to sin, an honest determination by the grace of God to cease from sin, and a turning of the whole heart to Christ.

And never let it be forgotten that repentance and faith are inseparable. As we have often taught, no repentance is true but that which consorts with faith, and no faith is true but that which is linked with a hearty and sincere repentance on account of past sin. Any repentance that keeps a soul from believing in Christ is a repentance that needs to be repented of. We must look to Jesus, for He was nailed to the cross for our sin, and He is set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood. There is pardon there, pardon for crimes of deepest dye, a pardon bought with Jesus blood, and where there is true repentance there is the full and free forgiveness of all sins.

You grieve, and rightly, that those who are educated and learned in the law can yet engage themselves in horrible sins and disregard human life and honest communication. But this only proves what Scripture declares, that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that wisdom of this world without the grace of God cannot make a man righteous or compassionate. We cannot expect the educated to act righteously unless the Lord Himself writes His law upon their hearts.

Therefore we pray with you, and we will continue to pray, that the goodness of God may lead these souls to repentance. He spares and He is patient, not willing that any should perish, and His daily mercies are meant to draw sinners to Himself. May the Lord work upon the hearts of the team at that place, and upon their lawyers and representatives, and upon all who are chosen among them, that they may be covered by the precious blood of Christ and know His peace. May He grant them that godly sorrow which needs not to be repented of, that they may not only confess sin but hate it and leave the sins they once loved, showing that they in earnest grieve by doing so no more.

We pray that He would give them, and give us all, that thirst for righteousness which only Christ can satisfy, for He is the Sun of Righteousness, and they that look to Him shall be made to rejoice in His light. May they be led to see that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that true righteousness and truth are found only in Him.

Be encouraged to persevere in this relentless prayer. True repentance will yield works meet for repentance, it will be practical and it will last, not as a sudden flush of feeling but as a lifelong turning from sin unto God. Keep looking to Jesus, and ask the Lord to increase both faith and repentance in your own heart as well as in theirs, for He who begins this good work is faithful to complete it.

May the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us according to the will of God continue to stir your heart and theirs, until truth shall indeed set free all who believe, and righteousness shall reign in lives made new by grace.

We commend you and those for whom you intercede to the mercy of our faithful God, praying that His will be done and that His name be exalted on high in Christ Jesus. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your prayer and we join you in bringing it before the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation and our hope.

Your desire for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is itself a good and blessed desire. The Lord Himself said, If any man thirst, let him come to me and drink, and He promised that blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. This is not a casual wish but the longing of a thirsty man for water, who eagerly drains the cup and desires more. Christ does not draw us by force or constraint, but He calls those who are inflamed with a true desire for Him. We pray with you that this thirst would be kindled in the hearts of those you have named, the team and their lawyers and representatives, and in our own hearts as well.

You have prayed well in asking that God would work on the heart, for God does not delight in outward show alone but in a broken and contrite heart. As the Psalm says, the sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit, a heart humbled and turned from sin He will not despise. True righteousness and holiness are not merely a figure or an outward cleanness, but a new creation in truth. We are made new not by earthly wisdom or by training in law, but by being created in righteousness and holiness of truth through Christ.

You are right to note that education and knowledge of the law do not make a person righteous. Righteousness is like a breastplate, impenetrable and firm, made of a life of universal virtue, of honest deeds and compassion and truthfulness. Without it a person is vulnerable, and even the most learned can fall into terrible sins when that breastplate is lacking. So we pray that God would clothe these men and women with that true righteousness, that they would not only know what is lawful but love what is good, and learn to be compassionate and truthful in all their dealings.

We also pray with you for true repentance. Tears alone are not enough if the heart still clings to sin. Scripture shows us that Esau sought the blessing with tears yet found no place for repentance because his heart had not truly turned, for he still intended to do evil. True repentance hates sin and turns away from it, to be renewed again unto a changed life. We ask the Lord to grant them that godly sorrow which leads to real turning, that they would recognize their sins, hate them, and forsake them, and receive forgiveness through the precious blood of Jesus shed for all who believe.

We pray that the blood of Christ would cover those who are His, and that those who are not yet His would come to know Him, for there is salvation in no other name. We ask that God would give them peace and understanding, stir their hearts to disregard no human life and to speak honestly, and to hunger and thirst after righteousness with all desire, just as men naturally hunger for gain, but now transferred to a love for what is right before God. May He increase in them the fruits of righteousness, which like seed sown yields a great harvest for His glory.

We will continue to pray with you, not boasting and not looking down on others, but humbly asking for mercy for all, knowing we all fall short of the glory of God. May the Holy Spirit intercede and work in every heart, and may the will of our Heavenly Father be done. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is right and good, and it reflects the very heart of what God desires to do in every person.

You are right to note that education, position, or knowledge of the law does not make a person righteous. God does not look as we look. We tend to look on outward appearance, learning, and status, but the Lord looks on the heart. He knows what is in the heart, and His judgment is always according to truth because He sees the motives and thoughts that we cannot see. A person can have a form of knowledge of the law and still be far from living it, and those who teach or administer the law will face a stricter judgment if that truth is not lived.

That is why your reference to Psalm 51 is so fitting. God is not pleased with outward sacrifice or religious show when the heart is not right. What He desires and will not despise is a broken spirit and a contrite heart, a heart that truly sees its sin, hates it, and turns from it. True revelation of God always brings a true revelation of ourselves, and when we see ourselves as God sees us we realize that our own righteousness is not enough and we cannot please Him in our own strength.

This is where the hunger and thirst you are praying for comes in. Jesus said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. That hunger is itself a work of God in the heart, a turning from pride and self righteousness to seek His righteousness. The righteousness God requires and provides is not attained by keeping the law in our own power, but is the righteousness which is by faith in Jesus Christ. With the heart a person believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. The word of faith is near, in the mouth and in the heart, for all who will believe that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess Him as Lord.

You also prayed that the truth would set them free. That freedom only comes through Jesus, who is the truth. Apart from Him every other pursuit leaves a person thirsty again. There is a physical thirst and an emotional thirst, but there is also a deep spiritual thirst that only Christ can satisfy. Those who drink of what the world offers will thirst again, but those who come to Christ find the thirst of the soul quenched. To speak truth and to love truth is something God delights in. A lying tongue lasts only for a moment, but the lip of truth shall be established forever, and deceit is rooted in the heart. That is why Scripture says to keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life, and to pray as the psalmist did, search me, O God, and know my heart.

We join you in praying that God would open hearts, bring deep conviction, grant repentance, and create that true hunger and thirst for His truth and His righteousness. We pray that those you mentioned, and all who are bound by deception, would come to see their need, turn to Jesus Christ alone for salvation and forgiveness through His blood, and be made new. Only in Him can a person be made pure in heart and begin to truly see God and walk in the path of righteousness, with compassion, honesty, and regard for human life. May the Lord cover and strengthen those who are His, give them peace and understanding, and continue to intercede by His Spirit according to His perfect will.
